If you want to spend lots of money yes.

I hope for your sake they don't drill the a pillar like the other brand snorkels suggest

    All the things!
They don't. I just posted a video earlier today, that shows it only connects at the top in the roof rack track.

The salesman is going to speak to Service tomorrow to see what it will cost to remove. I will keep you posted.

Desert air intake? Pretty dumb no one runs anything like that for the desert. Unless they named it that so people don’t think they can go sinking there truck up to the Windows with a “snorkel” lol

^^. This I’d be into, but only if it was automated and raised and lowered like a power antenna.

The ASS-TRD if you will. “Automatic Sand Snorkel - Tactical Racing Dingus”

This was the response from my salesman after speaking to Service about reverting my intake back to stock. I am not sure how accurate this is, but seems like they are inflating the price by quite a bit. Could be wrong though.

"It’s look liking it’s going to be pretty pricey. Because it looks like it’s built into the fender we would have to replace the entire fender above the wheel well in order to completely remove the intake. We would have to outsource the body work for painting and installing the fender and before even getting those costs, just parts is over $1,100. That doesn’t include painting or body installation. Even this is all estimates before they get a chance to look at it since we haven’t seen it yet."

I'm very confused about this move from Toyota.

They don't give proper off road tires on the Pro
They don't give sliders on the Pro
But they give you a Huuuge snorkel

This thing looks really silly, especially stock.

I am. Everything is fine except for the air intake. I can change that over the next few months. The cost won't be that much especially if I can find someone else to swap me panels and sell the air intake.

I even went on the search for another Pro with the same color w/o the air intake and there was 1 in the state of Oregon. It was already spoken for. If it was something that could not be changed later, I would back out. However, because it can be reverted back (with some money) I am willing to move forward on it.

Why didn't Toyota just make the hood scoop functional instead of this for 2019? Seems like it would have appealed to more pro buyers.

Have you looked at your air filter after doing long runs in the desert?

I've been plenty of places in Utah where it would have been nice. But they were very much in line with the Baja environment.

In the US. Seems a lot of Australian vehicles have functional scoops, but they are used to chill massive intercoolers.

    WUT? o_O

A good majority of people that legitimately need a snorkel use it for dust mitigation far more than water crossings. My poor airbox probably wishes I had one with all the sandy, dusty driving I do here in UT. Just not willing to drill that big of a hole in my fender, and more importantly, my A pillar.

Although your point about the name is probably correct, likely in part to the lawyer's fears of deep water crossing (mis-)usage

From the front, it looks okay. However, the right side view of the truck looks hideous with the DAI.
