Dealers should be able to flush the transmission fluid, right?

100% this. My dad taught me this from the day I started driving. If they do something you don’t authorize - do NOT pay.

Glad you got your refund OP.

Some of these replies are ridiculous. I flushed mine via the transmission cooler lines. I followed the instructions on this forum. It was easy, i also dropped the pan, replaced filter screen and and pan gasket and cleaned the pan. Zero issues. It was one of the easiest self maintenance things I've done. Fyi - I used valvoline max life atf.

This is easy job if your good with your hands - theres a thread here that talk about this using your Trans cooler lines. It's a few rounds of "FILL" and drain via Trans cooler lines. I did this with my old taco and by this way - you're noting going to reverse flush crap into your trans fluid passages...

I was shocked! I was gearing up for a battle with the dealer to get my money back. Then I get the manager on the phone and he was super easy going and very apologetic. Telling me he’ll have to speak with his employees and make sure they call customers if they can’t perform the requested work.

You are right to insist on a flush. I flushed mine at 130K and was surprised how dirty the fluid was. I dropped the pan and changed out the filter as well. AND I recently added a magnetic filter on the return line from the cooler. I used Valvoline MaxLife synethic ATF based on this site and it is pretty awesome. My truck shifts great.

Also make sure you do a flush of the power steering fluid. It uses WS fluid also, the same as the transmission! I put Valvoline MaxLife in mine as well. I also added a magnetic filter :)

ps fluid flush was by far the easiest, cleanest, quickest fluid change on the vehicle i have ever done. Its gonna be added to my 30k mile rear diff fluid change regimen.

Agreed. I am surprised it’s not done more often since it’s pretty easy and you can see how dirty the fluid gets. Just a quart of fluid does a pretty good flush!

You may want to check your level. What if he did put in 6 quarts?
