Looks like I am not needed here...

Wiring is correct though. With the line spooled the wrong way, out is in and in is out.

    Your always needed.

I called tech support and the line should come in on the bottom of the drum, so in is in and out is out.

    This was the real problemimage.jpg

Line rubs where the black tape is.

I guess I'll cut a little more out or do an inner fairlead.

Maybe if I spooled it under tension it wouldn't rub??

You have two options. Take a file to that whole edge where it is rubbing and smooth it out. Or you could do like I did and create a fairlead sandwich. One on the outside and one on the inside. Like this. C453BC33-96A5-437D-A16A-F24E11FE98D7.jpgEAACAB0E-A975-41B8-B611-538EF76C6B4F.jpg

Yours rubbed on the bottom edge of the cutout, ever so slightly right?

I was thinking about both options you mentioned.

    Thanks

    Thanks @Bastek

Mine rubbed the entire bottom edge. I actually had my synthetic line break at Mobtown while I was spooling under the load of Randy's truck. I noticed the rub when Smitty sent me a replacement winch line and I was spooling it in my backyard. In this picture you can see the line rubbing the steel bumper edge while being spooled under load. 8CAF6D1C-D61E-4A3C-A6AA-53511E32203D.jpg FE617F47-B07D-4E49-9493-DF4F8344CDF3.jpg

I kinda think the manufacturer fucked up with the angled fairlead mounting...and possibly placement.
I really hope I didn't screw up with my new bumper design. I of course ignored all normally accepted distance requirements for the fairlead to winch...

What is the normally accepted distance? I have used my winch a few times since I created the fairlead sandwich and it appears to be working.

I think the bumper cutout for the fairlead is too high, plus the angle of the front plate, thus the rubbing. I think.

Rounding off the inside edge with a file or grinder is an option. I decided against that because I wanted the larger and smoother radius provided by the second aluminum fairlead.

The farther the better. I know some Aussies that run 200mm and consider it close. My old bumper was about 3-1/2" and it winched fine. I am around 2-1/2" with this bumper.

I would want to take at least a 1/4 inch out I think. Second fairlead might be the way to go.

I'm not an expert, and I don't want to sound like a TW troll...
I think I recall reading or hearing somewhere that synthetic lines don't really like heat all that much, so rubbing against fairlead sandwich might not be the healthiest thing for it. That's why I suggested wide mouth fairlead (kinda what US Offroad uses in their hidden winch mount for 3rd Gen), which would also require grinding /filing and rounding off bottom of the opening.
Now, unlike Mark, I might be totally fucking wrong....

    I'll take some measurements tomorrow.

I want to see the new bumper. The rear looked great.
