Well, I don’t know where, but I vote Christmas Tree run and some fun in the snow. Don’t mean to blow up the thread but I don’t see as many people as were in the November meetup thread.

I'll be headed up this Saturday morning, off the Stampede/Kachess exit for a tree if anyone is interested in going.

I might like to tag along. Taking the rig up to some snow for the first time could be fun : )

I’ve seen some retailers selling permits but I’m not sure who off the top of my head in North Bend. The ranger station there will be closed since it’s Saturday, I know REI sells them.

Perplexed I am, a permit for a x-mas tree? What's next? A permit to ask for a permit?

It's a permit to harvest one from the national forest. Usually $5-10 depending on which forest your going to.

I realize that's how things are. My dad was a logger when I was a boy. Hes also planted hundreds of thousands too. He used to joke that one day permits would happen.

 I definitely missed the sarcasm in the original post lol. I moved up here from Texas so learning you can go out and cut your own vs paying a farm a wad of cash for a tiny tree was a nice surprise.

Man wish I could make this one. Flying out Saturday for Disney Land with the kiddo and wife.

But I'll have all Christmas week and New Years off. Maybe plan something that week too..

Looks like I’ll have to wait as my baby isn’t exactly in top-notch condition at the moment and doesn’t get looked at until Tuesday the 4th :pout:

    Good luck in Disneyland!

    Sorry to hear that!

Sounds like there are others interested in that weekend. This weekend is probably my only free weekend this month unfortunately.

I just got a tree yesterday off FS-75 just past Green Water. They are logging an area about 3 miles up so there was a bit more traffic on the road than normally. But I drove all the way to the peak with no problem. Virtually zero snow, just a little slush. Grabbed my permit at the Enumclaw Ranger Station. 10 Bucks.

Are you taking stampede pass exit and going up a FS? Which one and how far do you plan on going?
