Need Help with brake Controller Harness

OK guys im stumped. I have a 2010 tacoma prerunner trd sport with the tow package. Everyone, including my owners manual is saying that the trailer brake controller harness is located on the drivers side kick panel. I have been looking for it for about an hour now in my shop and for the life of me I can not find it. Have they moved it on the 2010 or is it hidden? I have been under the kick panel a few times before to hook up other stuff and havent ever seen anything similar to this connector. Anyone run into this before?

Just did mine a month ago on a 2009 Sport. The pigtail was supplied by Toyota and in the glovebox. The plug that the pigtail plugs into was located DEEP up under the dash on the far left of the drivers side foot well, not behind the kick panel. Being that I bought the truck used I was lucky to have the Toyota pig tail but did not have the wiring diagram with it, so I pluged it in and manually checked the circuits with a 12 volt tester and compared the results to my controller requirements. You might be able to get a wiring diagram online or already have one from Toyota. Bear in mind also your controller requirements might be different from mine. My hook up was really not that hard though, there was only fused hot, ground and brake actuation into my controller and one wire out to my trailer brakes for a total of 4 all contained in the Yota harness. Also for some reason (and the only wire that was labelled by Toyota on the supplied harness) there was an extra lead for the trailer brake lights but I did not use it or need it as there was no place to connect it on my controller and apparently the factory trailer plug harness takes care of the brake lights already (I'm guessing because most don't use trailer brakes). Hope it all makes sense and sorry I dont have any pics but could take some of mine if you need. I would'nt think 2009 is different from 2010 but not sure.

I see now the rogue wire is for "trail" lights not tail lights as I thought but I still don't get what it would be used for. Maybe to signal someone from behind while towing?
But it it comes off the headlight then you would flashing your lights up front at the same time!?

 

Thanks for posting that PDF. Would you be able to tell me what colour wires are in the mating connector (ie. in the truck harness)? I found a 5-pin connector and the colours don't match those on the PDF.

 

Someone else might be able to help with that, I haven't had the need to take off my kick panel and use this yet.
