Any measure of increased spring strength in the roush?

No measure but it is slightly increased over stock. Maybe like 3-5 ft lbs. more. Nothing crazy.

Just like pleasure pontoons. Bigger #'s is better.

How does the Roush pulley fit on the Roush tensioner?

It could have a stepper groove built into the idler design. It looks like there is a small step right before the sleeve, so maybe?

Fits the same. Looks like the inner races and bearings for both pulleys are the same as far as the height from the sleeve.

From a very brief search I have found that the fact they fit without full engagement causes bearing race failure during otherwise normal operation. It is my advice to create something that fully houses the bearing inner race.

It could just be how they come. Mine should be here any day now so we can take a look to see if mine is the same way.

Turns out Edelbrock is a player in this game as well. They offer a fully bolt on solution to increase strength of stock tensioners without compromising their integrity via welding.

The Roush option appears to be the best way to go for those who are on a budget. Otherwise, the high dollar fully billet alternatives remain in place as an option. I personally love mine. :D

Warning: Use caution or this might happen after installing the Roush tensioner on your new Roush Racing Tacoma

Interesting design and good find! I can see it being much stronger, the only possible downfall I could see would be the extra weight of the tensioner arm and stock spring.
I got the Roush for the cost/performance factor and it supposedly has a stiffer spring than oem.

I actually checked just to see what it was made of, so it turns out these are steel reinforcement plates, but it doesn't matter anyways because they don't stock as of currently anywhere. Which is sort of odd. Either way, the stock spring is plenty strong to handle our serpentine systems, the Roush unit increases overall spring strength by a very mild amount. Nothing too extraordinary though. Remember, you dont want a huge amount of excessive pressure being applied to the belt otherwise you will excessively load the bearings and reduce their overall runtime life. The proper size belt is always the answer before relying on the tensioner to compensate for a poorly performing or improperly setup serpentine system.

So I know we already talked about boost season but I just his 7 psi on my gauge tonight! Normally I max around 6.2/6.4. Peak boost was 7.4 but I was still surprised to see 7.0 pop up. Not bad for a 2.85 pulley!

Agreed it's a balance between enough tension to prevent our smaller and higher loaded pulley and too much causing excessive bearing wear.

@12TRDTacoma, Hi. Sorry for any potential thread hijacks, just one (ok two) quick question. I finished (95% finished) my Maggy S/C install today. I have the same gauge cluster for boost and wideband AF. Wondering if you did a write-up on the cluster install and gauge line routing? What do you think the best location is for the O2 sensor in the exhaust line? I am probably going to take it into a shop to get the bung welded in.

Thanks! My wife does not agree though with my new-ish found obsession.

Truth be told, this is one of my favorite places on the web. Been a lurker for years.
