I'm considering having mine painted or powder coated. Does anyone know of any pics on how this would look?

I wanna see this too!! I have been debating painting mine. There is a write up somewhere on here, fairly recent too, of some painted but not on a silver model.

Yes, I want to see this also. I have a silver DC Long Bed. I blacked my badges, have a black step bars, and installed blacked out tail lights. I have been thinking of painting my rims black, so would love to see some pictures of it here.

i was at Kings toyota and saw a used taco sport on their lot, looked at the wheels, they were all bubbled up and starting to rust. i could tell they painted over it to try to hide it too.

Kings Toyota does stuff like that, I would never buy anything used from there lot. The bubbling on the rims is a pretty common thing w/ the TRD sport wheels.

This is pretty close to what I did to my wheels, except mine are the sport wheels. I'll have to take a picture and post after work.

YumaTRD, did you blacken the inside of the scoop? The silver with black emblems and rims looks great. Guess I am painting my rims this weekend.

The scoop insert is removable. I just pulled it out and painted it just to add to the black and silver theme

I like the wheels, and I like the idea of painting the scoop insert too.

Now the question becomes: paint or powdercoat. Isn't powdercoating more durable?

powdercoating is a better process but its much more expensive and time consuming. you will have to dismount the rims, powdercoat, mount the rims again and then balance them again. you might be rimless for a day or two

I'm sure there are tons of thread out there on how to do this. Quick question though: do I need to take the tires off, or is there some way to get this done with taping them off - or don't you care since it's black paint on black tires?
