It is my opinion that Bama is a better team. It is my opinion that they would beat OSU. It is BY THE CRITERIA THAT OSU WITH A WIN AND BAMA WITH A LOSS MEANS OSU GETS IN OVER THEM. PLAIN AND SIMPLE.

No, you said that you thought LSU should get more looks because of their #1 SOS but they dont meet the criteria so they dont deserve it. (basically they have too many losses, so that SOS doesn't even matter.)

IF ALABAMA LOSES THIS WEEKEND THEY WILL HAVE THE SAME NUMBER OF LOSSES AS OSU. (does it help you understand that since I put it in all caps?)

OSU WILL HAVE LOST TO PURDUE IN A FUCKING BLOW OUT BY AN UNRANKED TEAM WHILE ALABAMA WILL HAVE LOST TO A TOP 5 TEAM.

per the criteria as noted above, the committee looks at records 13-0, 12-1, 11-2 whatever....REGARDLESS OF WHO THE LOSS WAS TO, that's what they look at FIRST. so say Alabama, OU, and OSU have matching records at 12-1. They then move down the list, next is conference champs. Alabama will not have that, OU and OSU will. That's advantage OU/OSU. Next is SOS. Bama loses that one to both OU/OSU. Advantage OU/OSU again. Then head to head, and common opponents. There are none, so it's disregarded.

in the current system, that's just how it is. you can't beat crappy teams by 1 point and say you're good. you don't pass the "eye test" as they like to call it. if you eek by a good team by 1 point, it looks better than eeking by a bad team by 1 point.

 

current system with the Power 5, if you go undefeated you're in. whether you win by 1 in every game or win by 50, you're in.

that's the same way the committee looks at losses, initially. if you each have 1 loss, you're equal. now...if you're equal on every other standard (conference title, sos, head to heads) then they look at quality of wins/losses.

 

Next year they are moving to 64 teams like basketball.

I personally want LSU to be ranked #1, win every game, if they lose they stay #1 because they're my favorite, and always get the trophies and recruits that they want. That's personally.

How much sense does that make? 0.

I do actually really want to see Gardner Minshew (Wazzu) play against an Alabama, Clemson, Georgia, whoever to see how he does. Kid's a freak, his team is not.

 

I think 6 is the magic number.

Power 5 plus one at large. That'll let ND in if they are dominant or a UCF.

 

except that 1 of the top 4 isn't in a conference, so right now with UGA in the 4 slot, 2 conferences are represented. one could argue that ND should just shut up and join the big10. one could also argue that 2 teams from 1 conference belong in the top 4 if they're the 2 best teams in the country, even with a loss. UGA could dismantle most other teams in the top 10.

 

Just got caught back up after reading 8 pages of the same BS over and over again lol. Seems like you guys are argueing the same thing. The what if X Wins and if X losses gets brought up about every other page....


Anyway, looking forward going to the game this Saturday in Atl. Bama "should" win this game but if everything goes right for Georgia we can win this game.

Vegas still has this game at UGA +13.5 and the O/U line is at 63 now.
