Yes, you might be able to slip/flex it up in there. You should never reley on caulk as a sole waterproof barrier.

Good luck man, I hate seeing this kind of stuff. If you are handy you should be able to save it. Worst case just pull the unit out and start over.

Wall cavities sound fine for insulating

I’d be leary of insulating between floor joists that close to a dirt floor....moisture could migrate out of earth and condense on your subfloor/joists and be unable to dissipate because insulation blocking air movement

If you absolutely must insulate there, maybe do a super vapor barrier on the dirt floor and up rubble wall/ 6x6 sill/band first. I would insulate that assembly with 2” extruded foamboard while it’s opened up too

No, it is some super thin metal flashing. I am not even sure what to do with that. The opposite side of the house is the same. You can see daylight from in the attic.
Yeah, this "project help" is growing every time I go over there. I do feel as though our friend has been totally taken advantage of. He is a couple of months away from 80 and very activ-ish, but I think he got sold a bill of goods from his "good friends"...
    Frustrating for sure

I’ve been trying to figure out what’s up with our dryer since we moved into the new house, our dryer never worked “great” but it didn’t take more than 2 cycles to dry a load of laundry.
I cleaned the exhaust pipe from where the flex tube joins it to the outside of the house, and I’ve taken apart the dryer and everything looks good in there.
The heating element works, the blower works, and when it’s not attached to the wall the exhaust is good and strong.

One of the symptoms other than taking multiple cycles to dry a load of laundry is there’s heavy condensation on the inside of the dryer. This leads me to believe that it’s not venting properly to decrease dry time.

So the vent tube that was installed in the house during construction is in the slab, the flex tube attaches to a 90 to drop it into the slab and just below the 1st 90 there’s a 2nd one to correct back to horizontal so it can run for about 6’ before it exits the side of the slab.

At this point all makes sense to me is it’s a shitty designed vent and that’s where the issue is coming from, what are y’all thoughts?

    What?

No. A vent should not be run through the slab. Its going to cause a moisture and condensation issue. Concrete slabs are cold and unless graded downward moisture will just sit.

Is the home a new build or did you buy it already existing?

All the houses on slabs here have the tube going through the slab

    Are they graded substantially downward?

Just because many people do it doesn’t mean its the best method.
There are some builders that do consistently stupid stuff.

Don't know how they are. Not surprising knowing my builder.

sounds like you have some build up somewhere restricting flow.

It was bought pre-existing. Not surprising that the builder took shortcuts after seeing some different things in other parts of the house that imply that it was not a great quality build.

I don’t think there’s an easy way to remodel it properly either, the house is two-story and the laundry room is a inside room.

I literally just cleaned the vent from the outside in, ran the brush all the way into the house, it’s not very likely.
If the vent is clogging so soon after cleaning then something else is wrong, either damage to the vent or a bad design.
