READ THE DAMN COMMITTEE CRITERIA I POSTED. per that, bama loss, bama out.

 

by your logic, UGA lost to LSU, who isn't in so UGA shouldn't be in either. i'm not sure how UGAs loss to LSU looks better than if bama loses to UGA. the committee considers conference championships, but it's not the be all end all.

so the committee uses conference championships, strength of schedule, and head to head comparisons on teams with similar records.

so say Alabama, Oklahoma, Ohio State all end up 12-1. equal records so we move to the criteria.

conference champs: Oklahoma and OSU yes, Alabama no.
Strength of schedule: this one varies website to website. per ESPN Alabama-58 Oklahoma-34 OSU-48
head-to-head: none of the 3 played each other, nor played common opponents.

so per committee criteria....how tf would you select Alabama over the other 2?

 

i do read and they've set their own precedent for how they're going to do things. the committee will look at the single losses and see which one passes the eye test the best.
oklahoma lost to now number 14 texas
ohio state lost to unranked Purdue
IF bama loses, they'll have lost to number 4 Georgia

 

and the other teams will have conference championships, which qualify as higher than anything first. supposed to.

time and time again: THE COMMITTEE NEEDS TO CHANGE THEIR CRITERIA OR EXPAND THE PLAYOFF.

Me and my boss figured out how we’re gonna beat Bama, we gonna run the triple option. Lol. Our scout team ran it better than GT did as our D claimed and we’d do it with way better athletes than the Citidal, or Tech for that matter.

LSU has multiple losses. UGA has one, and it’s not considered a bad loss even though it possibly could be at this point. Alabama could have one less next week and *NOT* be the conference champ.

UGA and Bama both one loss. One isn’t conference champ. There are two potential 0-loss teams behind them (batting a Clemson collapse). OU is the only one IMO that gets in over Bama, but the pundits love for Meyer and OSU will not go unnoticed regardless of their terrible loss since they just crushed UM and will now most certainly win the B10.

For the record, I’d love nothing more than to see OU and OSU lose. I want madness and an 8-team playoff.

 

sure, that's why Northwestern/Pitt/Texas won't get in if they win.

but just because you feel like a loss to Georgia is better than another one teams loss doesn't mean much. if every team played the exact same schedules then problems would be solved, but you have to have criteria AND YOU NEED TO FOLLOW IT with the way the system is now, because it's impossible for everyone to play the same schedule, since there are over 130 teams. nobody actually knows if Alabama would've beat Texas or Purdue on those given days. You can think they would, and whatever, but you DON'T KNOW 100%.

I keep wondering why anybody at all likes rematches in the same season? at best it proves 1-1, which proves nothing. what's the fun in that?

 

I might add that imo we are better than OU and OSU so even with a loss to Bama it will suck to see one of them get in over us. I know I’m biased but I think the top 4 are what should be in but I know if we lose to Bama that won’t and shouldn’t happen. It’ll just suck to think we’re better than the #4 team if that plays out.

Maybe we should leave the conference like ND? Lol.

Makes me wonder if conferences will think about dropping their championship games? Don’t want that to happen, just a thought that has crept into my mind.

 

there's always the potential for rematches in conf championships. If bama had played uga earlier in the year and given them that 1 loss, but uga still won the east, wouldn't uga deserve to be in the sec championship? of course they would, even though they proved earlier in the year that they couldn't beat bama.


remember back in the day when we could all bitch about there only being 2 teams in the NC game and no playoffs at all? wasn't that great?

 

i'd say there's a possibility that even if UGA loses, they get in, especially if it's close... probably need OU and OSU to either lose or barely win.

 

yes that's possible, but that's in-conference, and it's arguable that the rematch doesn't decide anything but 1-1 there as well.

playoffs is about finding the best in the country. if you aren't the best in your conference....how're you the best in the country?

There is a 0% possibility of the committee letting in a 2-loss team that’s not a conference champion in over two 1-loss conference champions. Zero.

If Georgia wins, feel free after the 4 team playoff is decided to put Bama at #2. Geez.

 

well.. if we want to go there...............

the SEC East has been hot garbage for years, yet a team can win the east with multiple losses. so if the team that wins the west has 0 losses and the second team in the west has 1 loss, then the top 2 in the conference could actually both be in the west.

and to use the history in tendencies of the committee.... if that team in the east actually wins, then the number 2 team in the west gets in with 1 loss.
