What have you done to your Tacoma today? 1st Gen Edition

I have tried it. I called a few alignment shops and once I mentioned I have an aftermarket lift and control arms they say they can’t do it.

The only shops that would touch it are the speciality shops I’ve called.

Same story for when I was looking for a transmission shop after my flexplate shit itself. I explained I used all OEM parts and said exactly what I needed to be done. One or two refused the work.

 

Which greasable shackles and main eyebolts did you get?

I’ve got All Pro leafs being delivered next Tuesday and would be nice to get ahead of the squeaks.

 

No pics, it’s not as bad as the typical rusty frames with large chunks missing, yet anyway

 

Again. Why would you tell them that? If you set the SPCs yourself to +2, you have like no lift. They aren't even going to notice. Its just a stock taco to them far as they know.

 

I assume the tolerances between the stock suspension or whatever they have in their alignment system is different with aftermarket suspension.

I’m at about a 2.5-3” lift.

 

You hit the frame in areas with a hammer yet?

 

I believe the eyes were Daystar and the Shackles were Old Man Emu. You have to be careful though, the bushings are different between leafs. When I noted it in my order notes with Wheeler’s - they sent me the correct ones.

 

lol its BS. Tech i have do mine just does it to spec or to what I want if I want something else.

Lift doesn't change it so long as the Tech is doing an alignment right.

Have to find the pictures but it lifted it about 3” inches after we did the front. The AllPro leafs made the ass stick up like crazy. After settling I estimate it to be at 2.5” ideally.

 

Come on over and pick up a clean frame or patch it up.

 

LOL. I love that the description even says how to adapt to a Tacoma. ...though seems a bit hokey the way they've described it, or perhaps I'm misunderstanding...

The boot opening is too big so you use the stock one to double up. is a bit hokey but it does work. What my LT axles have.

 

Why though, with 272k, rusty bed, cab and frame, it’s not worth it to me.

 

Sounds pricey.

 

Let me just say dibs for @Sperrunner because I know he’s looking over this thread already.

 

They new Coats alignment racks that most are using now just require the tech to have one working arm and the ability to read and understand like 5 words. They're witchcraft for sure haha

 

Toyota dealer near me wouldn't do an alignment on my truck because of my Kings...they told me they only align 'stock' vehicles but I'm sure that varies depending on the dealership

 

You can't make that call, you live in CA
