@OVTune @livel0veryde - because I'm paranoid, should I do anything besides disconnect the battery before removing my ECU?

Is this only for the 3.4 ecus? Or will 03-04 2.7 work as well?

Another way to be sure is to turn the key to on but don’t turn the engine on and pop the hood. Turn the throttle by hand at the throttle body and you should hear a click and an electronic motor inside it actuating the throttle plate.

    No, it's cable actuated

It would still have a cable. The 03-04 3.4l does. The cable is supposedly for limp mode if your TB goes out.

Yes but in 99+ the wideband o2 is only on the two cat version, if I ran a wideband upstream on my truck it wouldn’t run right 99+00 has a fed edition with only single cat and simple o2 upstream.

Its legal in a sense as long as you don’t tell the smog center they can’t see anything you did to tune it anyway.

Yah Gadget seems bored with the 5VZFE since he’s gotten to 500 hp, and now doesn’t play much with first gens mainly xrunners. LCE has done 500hp na for real call em’.

    "

Maybe I need to go read the LCE lit and see what they do?? Won't be cheap that is for sure...HP never is!:burnrubber:

Yeah I have a set of heads ready to port and polish after my jalopy is running. That seemed to have a good deal of how that HP was made.

When I heard what was done to get that 500hp engine there mechanically, well, I shit a Nike!, and when it gets to that hp the stock ecu is rubbish. Could’ve had it for 5k, I still kick myself, but for a daily driver in Ca, smog centers wouldn’t dig a stand-alone or all the visual smog stuff removed permanently. Could have stuffed it up my friends ass with a 15’ 454 SS camaro, maybe, not really. Probably wind up flipping into a barrel roll with that kinda power on a 3” lift on 33” tires, I’d love to watch it though.

Where did you hear that? I can’t seem to find any definitive source of what needs to be done (and what dosent) to get 500hp. Or even 400 for that matter.

To more than double the output of any engine without forced induction another method of moving more air through it will have to be found.
