I'm sure he has. With extended travel coil overs and aftermarket ucas the CV can get really close to maxing out but the coils and shocks should be good. But I also don't have much experience with 3rd gens. I would keep it on for drivability anyways. I run discos on my 4runner and never damaged anything but the CVS are maxed.

If you remove the C/O whats the next restricting component? It would be the UCA stock ball joint which I would be more worried about failing then over extending my C/O. Next would be the LCA stock ball joint... But between replacing UCA uniball and stock LCA then C/O will bottom out over ledges and its pretty aggressive even dropping off a curb height. Straps would be ideal to save the longevity of the shock.

Edit: If you look at a Fox C/O 600 lb spring unloading a spring when a wheel drops off a ledge under 2" of compression thats 1200 lbs plus any built moment from unsprung wheel/tire weight.

Ok... but even with the stock C/O's and stock arms, unless you're flying off a jump, you're not going to fully extend or stuff the front suspension. And even then, the removal or keeping of the sway bar isn't going to affect anything in this scenario. I think the point here is removing the sway bar will not lead to damaged suspension components (how hard you are on your suspension will...). It simply un-restricts the travel on each side making them more independent for better articulation. Best for rock-crawling.

I removed my sway bar and have not noticed much. My wife drove the truck after and didn't notice a difference either. If I look for body roll I can see it but other than that it's not noticeable, I have to look for it.

We could run these on 3rd Gen tacomas, right? But have a wing nut on the top instead of the standard lock nut. Where'd you get these?

I don't think you can disconnect without removing entire bar due to CV damage. These are on my 4runner and made by Wabfab. I would look into a member named @mstudt. He makes them for a lot of toyotas.

Okay, now I get it. So even if you disconnect and remove the vertical sway bar link, the black horizontal sway bar will damage the CV.

So now we need another bracket to attach the disconnected sway bar to... hmm.

Considering the stock bar. Both end links need to be released and the bar would need to be secured as high as possible to not make contact. That last part is the trickiest as it could drop down due to trail vibrations.

There was someone considering a mod that would shorten one end of the bar, so only one end link and a two bolt connection on the modded bar would need to be removed. That is risky from a strength standpoint, but a failure should not cause damage.

The Taco is a bit different with two ball joints on the end links.

If you get longer links and keep them connected you can get a lot more droop in the IFS.

Here is a taco pic, my bad

you could almost just replace the sway bar link with a spring haha

That would hold the sway bar up well enough and stretch when needed.

But will compress too much on the road I would guess.

Right, it would have to be replaced with the link on the road since it wouldn't have any stiffness but it would keep the SB from hitting the CV

I pulled the sway bar off when I installed the 887’s. 435 miles on truck, I never notice any difference even cranking 80 down the highway with a Ktm in the back. 28,000 on it now and I have no idea where I put it. :taco:

Why do you assume your going to kill your family with out it?

Mine is coming off when my Kings go on. I feel like I can do it without removing the skid plate

The kicker about this is your insurance. If you did wreck and they found out you took it off then they could potentially decline your claim.

The skid plate is like 45 seconds (4-bolts)to take off and makes things ALOT easier
