Did you check the moisture sensor in the dryer? The wire might have just gotten knocked off in the move or it might just be a coincidence that it stopped working in the move.

I did not, but we've always used the time dry setting on the machine, I don't believe that the moisture sensor is applicable to that mode, is it?

Just got home and checked the blow-ability, no blowing at the exterior where the vent comes out so I guess I'll pull the dryer out and verify the dryer is blowing and run the brush through the vent again.

So we had our to be house inspected today and the circuit box is an old challenger. They said those are notorious for running hot even in normal conditions and causing fires. How much would you estimate the cost to replace would be?

Call some electricians and get estimates. Not to be SA, they will know how much time and material costs will be, closer than most of us in here.

Makes sense. Was just wondering if anyone had done it themselves or had experience with it. just moving the existing wiring over to a new panel. I don't know what all it entails myself but if it could be done safely and cheaper than having someone come in and do it, then I'd rather just buy a panel and wire it with my dad who's an electrical engineer.
Guess I'll have to call around.

You could probably do individual circuits easily and safe enough. Don’t forget they have to shut off power at the pole to move the feeders. And it will all have to be inspected when done. Be safe!

P.S. You may need a permit.

Yeah. I'd probably have an inclusion added to have access to the property before the closing date in order to have the work done.

This seems to be the winner, even though I had just cleaned the duct it was blocked after cleaning the dryer, I ran the drill powered brush through it after discovering it wouldn't blow and a slurry came out.
I'm making the assumption that I dislodged some stuff when I cleaned the dryer and as it blew out after startup it was caught by standing water and then piled up to block the vent.
We now have positive pressure so the next load (or if we're lucky a few) should dry pretty darn well, weather is supposed to stay in the 60's for the next week at least so that should help with the condensation build up.

We run metal dryer ducting in framed walls , I have used PVC to duct a downdraft range hood under a slab but would never use metal under the slab

Holy chit, I've done a lot already!!
If your dad is an EE, you should be able to do it yourself, cheaper and possibly safer than someone else. Just a ballpark, in my area, would be $400-$800 to do it yourself, and at least $1-2k to have an electrician do it. Check with your local building department. We are allowed to do our own work here, but municipalities are starting to disallow that. Worth it to get estimates, but also search around to DIY. We built a barn at work, and had a brand new light burn up at the connections. That was done by a licensed electrician. They are normally pretty good, but everyone makes mistakes. I've learned that NO ONE puts the heart into my projects as much as I do.

That is insane in my book. Always better to vent up and out. But sometimes necessary to go down. I'm just at awe that code would allow them to go through a "cold" slab. It sounds like you have it figured out, but I hope you have a way to permanently fix it.

And out of curiosity why would you not run metal through the slab?

When we vented under the slab I did , the entire slab was insulated with R-12 styrofoam insulation and I actually insulated and ran vapour barrier around the pipe trench so that technically the pvc was still inside the conditioned building envelope

I would think that would be the key. From everything I've seen/read, you do things like they are your own. Sadly VERY uncommon for contractors.

Yeah, but as of right now its a perfectly functioning thing so I don't know if they would. Worth a shot.

I did this on the first house I remodeled, removed an old fuse box that was running the entire house on 4 circuits. I ended up basically re-wiring the house to get it up to code cost me right at $500. Not hard but just remember the wiring you're messing with was cut for that exact box and the next will be slightly different. You may want to call the city/county you live in to make sure they wont make you get up to code all around the house. Not sure how old the house is but a lot of things have changed.
