Yeah except theres a huge HOV area of dunes right off the beach. So you can camp on the beach and enjoy that and then just skate right out to the dunes anytime you want. Last time I was there Fence line was gone though. For those that don't know, theres a section of the beach that was cordoned off because of some environmental thing, rare bird nests or something, for about a mile which caused the area about 50 yards out from the fence to form ripples in the sand we call whups. For guys like me, that's a BLAST. Doing about 70 mph along fence line was amazing. I'm guessing the endangered animal or w/e moved on and they opened the spot back up? Dunno.

Its....year round. You can go anytime. I usually go 2-3 times a year, wish it was more but most people bail on the trips since its a 4 hour drive or they're just flakes lol. Now I just go when the fam wants to make a trip or someone else is planning it. Can't tell you how many trips I've planned with 10+ "I'm totally there" and its me and one other person lol. Over it.

Went there a few times 30 years ago then moved to Tucson so Glamis and Buttercup were the playground. Great times!

I actually just pulled the trigger on a GoPro 7 since it supposedly has a bunch of anti shake stuff in it and got an Amazon Warehouse deal on a GoPro Session 5. Can't beat $120 for a perfectly good mini GoPro

Wow. That's way cheaper than I thought. I'd better go shopping, again. I'd love one. Then I could post video and could get people opinions.

I have an interesting thing going on over here tonight.
So I bought an ovtune handheld for my Dad’s truck, which is a 2011 automatic 2wd with the trd supercharger which was installed at 15,000 miles by the previous owner (69,000 miles currently).

So I plugged the handheld in and I get this error message.
    13C24B0C-9DDE-443F-ADB9-930A0DDD9BC4.jpg
As far as I can see, the trd tune calibration numbers started at 3YWG2700, so I did some looking and I found this.
    EA7037C0-02C9-4BE0-BD79-79829DE28AD3.jpg
There is no way this truck is running on the stock ecu tune and hasn’t blown up right? Truck seems to run ok, pulls good no loud knocking or anything. I am pretty sure the truck would run horribily on a stock tune with the trd injectors, right?

Anyway I emailed ovtune to see what he thinks of this, but thought I would share with you guys maybe someone has an idea of wtf could be going on.

Yeah I saw someone on here had one for sale for $180 "new" and then just watched Amazon for about a month. I dunno if its used or just open box. Came with original packaging that was opened up, looked in perfect condition.

    Oops $135

No! According to that trd calibration sheet, the truck is running a stock NA calibration (3YWG1400 and not 3YWG3500 which is a trd tune). The ovtune hand held can read the trd tune (3YWG3500) but the truck thinks it is on the stock na calibration!

I bought the handheld from a user on this forum who decided they were not going to use the handheld.

Oh!!.....I see I miss read everything. I got ya. Oh snap that’s jacked up. I don’t see how it can run on the stock tune....well that is. No way. That’s a weird one. I believe I know where you got the hand held from, I was gonna buy it myself.

That’s very strange. So the truck is supercharged, but has been running on a normally aspirated tune? Should be running pretty rich out of boost with bigger TRD injectors installed and possibly lean when in boost.

That is what the calibration is saying... I just find it hard to believe. It does not appear to be running rich at idle, nor lean while driving. There is no AFR gauge hooked up though, just reading the stock sensors from an ultragauge, so their AFR range is limited, it pegs out pretty early so it's hard to tell how rich it is running.
I agree. The only thing I can think of is somehow the trd tune flashed, but did not update the calibration ID. I am not sure if that is possible, maybe some odd fluke in the system. He works at an autogroup, so if he has time tomorrow I told him to run it into the Toyota shop and see if they can flash the TRD tune on.

AFR gauges do not read Short term and long term fuel trims though. That is where the true question mark lies. How much abnormal fuel control intervention on the truck to keep the AFR #'s proper.

I am really curious to see what becomes of that. Keep digging!

I will set those gauges up and drive it and see what I find, good idea! We will see, he may get the actual "trd" flash tomorrow, lol.

Not my video, but this is Silver lake dunes right off Lake Michigan. This is where I test my truck. Nothing like drag racing 8 wide against anything and everything that lines up. Can't wait until next summer to test out new mods. Picked up a GoPro Hero 5 for my next visit.
