LED headlight sidemarkers

Can these be wired after the headlight is assembled?
I.e. I wired them as a blinker during the bhlm, but want to disable the blinker function and only have them function as a running light

What happened?! Wanted to order a set

 

Had 6 sets of switchbacks, 10 sets of amber. I didn't know which would be more popular. Got more LEDs coming, so should have more sets next week.

The amber lights are still available. Switchbacks are gone.

 

I went with the ambers.. I’m installing the diode dynamics Switchbacks and I think these switchbacks would be too much going on in the headlight. Would be like a light show at intersections

Any word on this?

 

The running light will plug directly into your side marker bulb. The turn signal wire will go out the DRL grommet or anywhere you pic. You don't have to hook it up but it's always there if you want it.

 

here are my thoughts on the different colors. But in the end, It's all personal preference.

AMBER: This is my personal choice because:
1)It has twice the number of Amber LED's as the switch backs. = More intensity.
Because on the switchbacks, every other LED has to be substituted for a white one.
2)By LAW you will need an amber side marker light. So it works out perfect because it has a LOW(dim) input (which can go directly to the same parking light connector) and a HIGH(bright) input that can be wired to the turn signal


SWITCHBACK:
1)Great to match the factory DRL white LED bar.
2)Not as intense as an all amber light, but still very bright.
3)It will need to be illuminated amber at night, but the problem is the only amber input is the turn signal. HOWEVER... you can connect the turn signal directly to a running light and when it is powered constantly for 5sec or more, it will automatically dim the amber. So technically you can still make it a dim(parking light) and bright(turn signal) but a little more wiring will be involved.

Could you explain the switch back a bit better? If it lights up amber at night. Does it light up white during the day? Sorry I am just having an issue visualizing it.

 

I just noticed these can also be DRL and didnt want to lead you in the wrong direction. So depending on what you use, wire will go to drl or turn signal wire but can used or not. Meso always adding a surprise...

 

I did not design the circuitry on the LEDS, diode dynamics did. They might have another idea on how to make it function like listed below. I have not done it like this, but in theory it should work. It would essentially have these functions:

DRL- Bright white only during the day
Parking light- dim amber on with headlights
Turn signal- bright amber at any time.

You would need another module (diode dynamics S1 or Morimoto switchback controller) yes this would be double switch back LOL.

The built in switchback driver that comes with them will only do the white(DRL)—->amber(turn)

Then, you would need a 2nd switchback module with the “DRL” input hooked to the Parking lights, and turn signal on the turn signal wire accordingly. BOTH outputs of said switchback box would need to be diode isolated and merged together into the single turn INPUT on the diode led.

This is very hard to type, but essentially the turn signal input of the diode switchbacks will have power CONSTANTLY(parking lights) and thus DIM(after 5 seconds). Then when turn signal is on, it will hit the 2nd switchback module and pulse the wire making it light up 100% bright for turn.

 

Sweet, just ordered a set. I wish they were the 3 strip style though. That seems to go with the shape of these "winglets" perfectly imo. Still super cool though!

 

I might make a double style. But triple?? If you want a set of $300 side markers SURE. Lol

 

Lol yeah I guess that makes sense. I meant like the set you posted here a while back that had the three thinner strips of LEDs.

 

Makes sense and it makes it super easy to just go with straight amber.
