So first of all I did my first oil change myself but figured I am going down to WV on Friday to pick up my new Lance trailer and it is cold so I will take advantage of my free services. They do some checking and tire rotation to. They came back and showed me my alignment was off in the front so I had them do it and they were able to do the blower recall. Seems they did a decent job and it was $129 for the alignment which I thought was very reasonable considering its a dealer and all. While I was waiting I walked around and was checking out all the trucks. Spent time in the Tacoma Pro. $48,000 on the sticker with snorkle. That is 14k more than my sport was. With my wheels and mini lift make it more like 12k more. I like the pro a lot leather was nice, cool exhaust pipe. Maybe if I lived out west or something but not worth it here on Long Island. I also sat in the Tundra which to my amusement was $44.000. It is a lot of truck. I would love the smooth ride and power but not the probable 13mpg. Also had an Expedition before the Taco and did not love the width of it. Then I sat in the Land Cruiser, that thing smells like a vacation. $88,000 for that one. I will probably pick one up one day when its like ten years old.So looks like it is me and my sport for a while. So I guess the point of the post is I am pretty happy with my dealer and will continue going there for a while for service and I think my sport is cool as shit.

If you paid $129.00 for a alignment I sure hope for that price it was a 4 wheel alignment !!!!

Do yourself a favor next time and pay for a lifetime alignment. I went through Firestone, only cost about 30 dollars more than what you paid for one.

Yes. it was a 4x4 alignment. They even showed me the scary computer pic with the red front wheels before it was done. lol

If firestone is anything like Mavis than no thanks. Mavis always gave my truck back with an off center steering wheel. I had a local shop recommended to me last time and they did o.k. but it was still a little off. I am not that educated in alignments but the dealer seems to have got it right. I don't mind the the 129 probably once a year that I will have it done. I don't off road but I pull a camper and most of the camp sites have bumpy rough roads. Also the oil change on the receipt is $85. I will probably be doing about 15k a year so I will do one myself and one by them every 8k or so.

Welcome to the club, you may have just got robbed!

If your steering wheel spoke was straight across, and not pulling to either side and normal tire wear was normal, you did not need an alignment.

Moreover, TOYOTA vehicles are aligned at the factory.

Out of all the TOYOTA vehicles I’ve owned, I never had to align one and I get up to 60-70k miles on tires before replacement.

Yes, the Tundras are nice, less expensive relatively speaking, have driver’s side seat height adjustment and come with boat loads of HP and torque at the expense of mpg no free lunch there.
But the downside of that V-8 is that if you ever need to replace that started, It’ll cost you $1k+ because its internal mounted or inside the V-8 engine. Dumb idea and its a good thing TOYOTA starters seldom ever go bad. I’ve never had one go bad on my personal ones, but I’ll stick with the four and sixes for now.

The Land Cruiser is a sweet ride, but the only thing I really envy over the 4R is the off-road or bird-view camera system which is neat.

But do try and avoid those free lunches at the stealership cause they’ll cost you!

    Cheers!

Uh, the Tacoma has a solid rear axle. There is no way of doing a 4 wheel alignment. I would be willing to bet the OP got a toe and go for $129.

last time I walked around while waiting for my truck ended up trading my 16 SR5 for my 18 SR5 4X4..... takes some self control to walk away with the same truck you got in........ :spending:

Like I said not all that educated in the alignment issue. But I am on Long Island a everything is expensive. The local shop charged me $100 so I figure 129 @ dealer wasn't so bad. Also after I put the OME 885's in it wasn't a long stretch by any means that things needed to be aligned. Gave me peace of mind considered I have a few thousand miles towing planned this month.

You got scammed...if truck needed alignment at 2nd oil change should be warranty issue. Dealers are SCUM!

I got a free alignment under warranty with about 2k miles. Pretty sure the dealer I bought it from f'ed it up when I brought it back for wheel balance issues. Alignment was fine when I bought it, not fine after that service. Second dealer fixed alignment for free.

Your warranty gives you alignment free for the first 12 months or 12,000 miles whichever comes first.
If you are still in the first year and under 12k I’d be asking for a refund from the dealer or reporting to corporate.

Edit: after looking through your post history it looks like you have had the truck over a year. Figured at first since it was your first dealer service it must have been newer.

I thought all trucks need alignment if you lift it. Irregardless of how new it is.

All of us Pro owners are fake bro dozing douche bags, the snorkel just addresses our inner desires. I love it. Then again my 200series LC has a snorkel too. Its perfect conversation starter at the Starbucks.
