Pretty sure the 2012 refresh killed those cubbys off.

This isn't for us, it is to keep the Taco under a certain program budget cap. The cost of the few 2019 changes plus (real or projected) inflation against the build / sales costs minus any savings that can be found.

Well this will be a hit to expedition essentials and their compressor bed mount.

Years ago a Japanese company that taught Six Sigma and Kaizen came into work. The constant or continuous improvement was reducing cycle time, removing content is unfortunately part of that but no hate involved.

Kaizen and other Toyota consulting techniques were always great for touch labor areas, even if they introduced a certain amount of effort. The struggle was when the same strategies were focused on office support staff. The improvements were always very small at best.

I honestly think that wasn't so much about improving the work, but to get a good look at the IP and tech? Just the conspiracy theorist in me.

On the contrary, I could see them developing a full up cubby, even better than the oem ones. But yeah, it will certainly be a setback to their developed product.

Every day on the third gen forum is a rough day.

Over under on how many tranny howling threads today?

Over under on how many 3.5L hate threads today?

Toyota hates us so much we're now betting on how much we notice that hate today.

Evil Toyota. I bet if they put hundred dollar bills on the dash they would give every one of us an infected paper cut.

There are lots of good "tact time" and "admin waste" reduction projects in office areas. BUT there are also a lot of bad projects: like the kaizen putz that decided we had to label all of our drawers as some sort of 5S bullshit. "documents", "office supplies", etc. They didn't like when I labelled EVERYTHING in my office, sarcastically at that... Mug = "coffee conveyance unit" Door = "escape hatch"

    I sure like my cubbies:D

The other is full, have to have easy access to my spam!

Sad really, taking more and more utility out of the taco is not the most advantageous thing to do for toyota. Damn these badass trucks!

On my old Honda, all I had to do was switch out the Master Window Switch. May be worth checking into, if that is what you want.

    Hahaha!

My peeve is the seasonal treads / arguments: warming up versus driving off, the speaker grille squeak, PTC heater questions / discoveries, etc. in the winter. 4wd exercising and a few others that I am forgetting in the summer. All as if they were never discussed in human history.

Honestly, I'm glad the Colorado and the Gladiator are coming to market. I think this will hopefully cause Toyota to step their game up, and think about the content their vehicles offer. I think they have been riding on their street cred a little too heavily these days.

Toyota is deleting bed cubbies, while jeep is adding a whole truck bed and throwing dual lockers on their offering.

What?? It probably costs Toyota .005 cents per cubby to implement. According to hiPSI, toyota is selling Tacomas at a gazillion a month. I highly doubt it’s because of cost. Most likely, a study group of Japanese woman decided they were to hard to clean after assembly.

The thing is there is explosive growth for trucks smaller than full size rolling condos. Potentially, Toyota could do nothing and still see sales growth.

I'm not saying that the Taco is perfect. They were way too slow to react to some of the bigger rollout issues and decontenting utility features is never good. But, the Taco is a pretty stellar platform even spec sheet racing.

That would be nice but I don't know that a couple new vehicles on the market will be enough.

At your next Toyota care appointment they will do the following:

    1. Rotate your tires - failing to bolt at least one down all the way.

    2. Make sure your floor mats are up to code.

    3. Refresh your ECU, negating the auto up/down feature.

    4. Replace your rear suspension components with ones that amplify the oscillations of the rear differential. They next TSB will induce the harmonic resonance to play a song. Likely contenders are "Die, Die My Darling", I Hate Everything About You and Hate (I Really Don't Like You). If you go to Toyota's corporate website they will allow us to vote on this. They will then pick the song with the least votes.
