Ordering a truck. Credit check required before order?

Maybe if you’re a new customer? I didn’t need one but I am a returning customer with tier one credit

 

Dealers can have their own policy on ordering vehicles. Toyota does not require a deposit or credit check, so you could refuse and they will most likely not try to find the truck your looking for. I have never put down a deposit because I don’t let anyone hold my money hostage, Tacoma’s sell and if you don’t buy it when it comes in, someone else will.

 

The only thing I didn’t get was i went through TFS which Toyota did a credit check, but the dealer also did 2 checks 1 for their toyota dept and 1 for their nissan dept and the funny thing was i near talked to anyone at the nissan dealership, now the other part was i got denied credit from the dealers credit dept but approved with TFS which i knew i would anyway my credit at the time was 775 it was just to see if I qualified for teir1 or 2 credit, in the long run it just added unnecessary inquiries to my credit report

I bet myself a dollar that you were not in the Gulf or SE racketeers region. Now I have to pay up.

 

I ordered mine Dec 2015, at the time everyone was reporting paying full MSRP or even over MSRP, paid just over invoice, like $100 over if I remember correctly. I'd buy from them again.

 

Have a cousin down in Greenwood that I've not seen in a lonnnnnng time. Possible visit in the future.

they always run a credit check , even if they dont tell you.. standard procedure. mine was 840 on my last buy, was told they never saw a credit check that high,,lol.. i buy alot of stuff, and own our house, paid it off last yr.

Unless you give them authorization to run a credit check, it’s illegal for them to run one. Know your rights, google Fair Credit Reporting Act.

 

Bought mine in Illinois a few months ago. I gave them a $500 credit card deposit over the phone and told them I would bring a bank draft for the balance at pick up. I get monthly credit reports from my bank and no checks were run.....

 

Can confirm. Recently moved closer to Indy. I understand it took a Supreme Court ruling as the other dealers filed suit that it was too close. Service lounge is really nice.

Same for me except mine took closer to 5mos to arrive.

 

Doing so without my signed consent would be illegal so I doubt any reputable (big box) dealer would do that.

 

I traded in my almost new Rubicon and wrote a check for the small difference. They wanted my social security number for a credit check. Shortly after that my identity was stolen with some clown trying to open up a number of credit cards. I will NOT do that again!

 

I doubt they would care if your credit score was 4 if you're putting 30k+ in cash in front of them.

 

Most dealers will say it's a Federal law. Those dealers are wrong. What is against the law is misrepresentation of requirements to run credit.

Do everyone a favor and report these dealers.

A friend of mine was pre approved before she went looking for a car and the dealership she went to managed to get her to use their financial company in which they were then able to run her credit! I think it’s a conspiracy
