Probably. We've been flat out, so we needed extra volunteers this weekend to try to get caught up

Anyone check the launch for the Jeep "Gladiator" yesterday? Saw bits of it this morning...All I can say is "ehh, it's ok". It's almost like a boxier Ridgeline. It just doesn't seem to fit the "truck" mold in regards to visual expectations like it's trying to be something that it isn't simply because someone wanted to design it, slap a jeep logo on it, and expect people to be like "good god yes this is exactly the vehicle I've been waiting for". I do think it makes owning a jeep actually practical however. Since it was way before my time how did the original Scrambler do? Obviously not as well as the wranglers and cherokees since those are the only "original" models left following massive face lifts

Looks wise, it seems they just put a bed on a 4door wrangler. Are there going to be different cab/bed configurations? Regular cab or an extended cab might look better than the 4door IMO. If they are offering manual trans in all trims, that will be a huge selling point I think.

I agree...I think the idea is good but it right now looks like an unlimited frankenstein'd together with a short box bed

Did you happen to read the article on it after the debut? They said basically the same thing you did, it's a Jeep, they're a Teflon brand, whatever they produce, people will buy it. That said, I like it :anonymous: I think it needs a diagonal roll bar for the bed though, like the back part of a regular Jeep roll cage, something to break up the weird body lines. I really like the modified version, lifted on meats with tube steel 'doors'.

I've read very little on it so far...honestly forgot about it's release until scrolling instagram today. I do agree with you, it's a jeep, people will buy it. A majority of people nowadays I feel buy jeeps just to say they own a jeep. That goes for all platforms, not just the wrangler. Wranglers and GC's seem to have gone from reliable true off-road vehicles to luxury/status vehicles. DUUUUUUUUUMB expensive and notoriously unreliable.

I used to want an XJ sooooooo bad when I was in college, don't know why, always loved them and how boxy shit was...knew the 4.0 would last me a lifetime if the body didn't rot out first, now they're all knockoffs of the redesigned Grands. Jeeps will always be in the back of my mind...I still like the new grands overall, the look of the renegade is ok but don't think I'd want to own one. Fiance wants a new compass (which I agree they look nice) but way out of our price range right now

People are gonna buy the shit outta that thing. I think it is pretty cool, and I could see myself getting one if the Tacoma didn't exist.

Every wrangler I've driven in I've hated...cool for a couple weeks in the summer to take top and doors off and go to the beach/lake but other than that I feel like I'm driving a crate full of bricks inside a sardine can. I'm not even a big guy (6' 220) and I feel cramped, visibility is shit, stock suspension throws you around the cab on the slightest of bumps. Unless I wanted to designate a pure trail vehicle that I didn't give a shit about and just wanted to beat on, I've told myself I'll never get a wrangler. If the new grand cherokees weren't just straight up street vehicles now (and someone please correct me if I'm wrong here) I'd almost take one of those over a 4runner...which either one is likely in the plans years down the road once the taco is paid off and I can convince the wifey a second truck will be good for me (she claims she'd want one but loves her GMC Terrain, which I'm not a huge fan of ).

I thought about getting the jeep and trading/selling the Taco :anonymous: but there are 2 things keeping me from doing so. 1) It's an FCA product and I can't trust them to make quality and reliable products 2) It can tow over 7k lbs but if you get the Rubicon it's only like 4.5k.......so it's out.

Why would the Rubicon be such less tow capacity? Gears?

If you're buying a vehicle with towing in mind, I'd strongly urge you to pay attention to the payload rating, not just the tow rating. Lots of manufacturers play this game. Unless it's a hay wagon or a boat trailer, you'll exceed your truck's payload long before you come close to your max tow number. Even with my little camping trailer, I was legally overloaded with the F150 with the tongue weight of the trailer, my family and the camping gear in the bed (chances are, if you actually calculated it out, you are also with your Tacoma and that travel trailer unless it's a really, really light tongue and you travel with the bed empty).

The only reason I say this is, the truck's not going to blow up just because you exceed one of the stated limits. But, if you're going to responsibly shop vehicles and are paying attention to those numbers, make sure you're looking at all the numbers that matter.

I wonder if it's something to do with the suspension. It should be geared lower so, if anything, it probably tows better but I bet something in the suspension setup isn't as well suited to carrying a load.

I don't get it. Usually tow ratings are only reduced when a vehicle is lighter or less wheel base?

But this is FCA, leave logic at the door... Maybe tow ratings are reduced when the chance of fire is increased :notsure:
