To each their own, but I think one thing that people forget about the sprinter route is just how big and limiting they can be. I've had two friends who have built out sprinters (fridges, beds, bike storage, heaters, etc) and they both were left wanting because they just couldn't get to the places they wanted to go. And when they did push it they are so top heavy that all of there gear is getting tossed around in the back .
Granted if you are staying more on the beaten path then yes, this makes sense. But for me, being able to get almost anywhere combined with the proper buildout... I don't see any other option that is better.

But it's just me and my GF and about 1.2 million dogs. :D

Awesome, thanks for the info on Faroutride! It's likely a weekend warrior rig with a few summer trips mixed in. I'm not a serious off-road/rock-crawling driver, but we both love trail runs/ultras, so getting to some out of the way places is a nice option.

Ahh, I believe you'll need to remove the entire channel piece and replace with the original channel that comes on the base truck without the rack.

Look for "Tacoma Drip Rails" ...probably need the clips too.

I used button head screws coated in silicone with a silicone blob covering the top.

I'll probably end up adding those. Just want to make sure I seal up the holes first. The threaded inserts go all the way into the cab.

Right on. Doing some digging I saw the rack screws are M6 x 14mm with a 1.0 pitch. Does that sound right and did you go a bit shorter?

I didn't even use bolts. I just siliconed the whole thing up really well and called it a day. New drip railing too.

The ones I used were about 1/2" long, so pretty close to 14mm length.

Yes and no. If you're talking about the public drama then it's just a show for Trump to get re-elected since Ohio and Michigan were states he narrowly won. He can't actually do anything legally. That plus he fails to realize we have 23 new HEV/EV's hitting market in the next 4 years. UAW will have their work and all those affected will be offered jobs at other factories. If they don't want to move that is on them.

I work on calibration for the high perf V8's, so Corvette, Camaro, CT6 Twin Turbo V8, etc. We have more than enough work, but working on my Master's in EV's and Fuel Cell. Transformation is all about young people which I am when compared to some of the old timers we have. One guy in my group has been on for 48 years! Crazy knowledgeable guy.

TLDR; Drama is drama, but it won't Trump me ;).

In the mean time still waiting for my second delivery attempt. Gonna be a while. At least it's cold/windy and staying inside is easier this time of year.

Ohhhh, gotcha. I misinterpreted their Instagram videos. I was under the impression that they were putting the rack on the gfc, but a newly designed rack for the cab makes sense. I read solar in the description and imagined it on the GFC not cab. I didn't think of that as a mounting location, hmmm.

Did you have to ask for this sample box or did it come on its own? Just wondering. I'd like one and would rather not bother them asking for it if it comes automatically!

It just came as part of the build process!

I received an email last week saying they were 8 weeks out and look for a package in the mail.

At this stage, I need to pick colors and window options.

I'm going to go with 2 windows and have them tinted. Hopefully I can maintain good rearward visibility and privacy.

I'm struggling with colors as my ZR2 is a metallic forest green color. Leaning orange frame with grey panels.

Ok cool! Yeah I dig the orange frame a lot. That's definitely my choice for my Taco. But it's black, and while I was thinking black panels, I'm wondering if gray is better for a black truck. In the end, I just want a camper no matter what the color!

We have the same color. I'm going all black. Should have mine soon, but probably won't have it in time to help your decision making. The orange is pretty noticeable and unless you have orange elsewhere it really won't blend too well unless you are going for a statement look when opened. I did see the grey panels in person and they really won't match well either. This a comparison of the black and grey (I ordered black, but they delivered grey, so was able to see it in person). The little shingles are great, but it's hard to visualize it until it's full size in person:

The black panels and grey frame are almost a perfect match with the black fenders and rear bumper portion that is a bit grey too. That's my route, but I'm curious on the orange, I was originally for it but decided an all black look in the end. Best of luck, hope you enjoy yours as much as I do :).

Drummond Island, MI - Only trucks we saw were ours and Jeeps, not a single Tacoma. Some trails even a jeep on 40's would get stuck, but overall much impressed with the depth of mud and water we were able to forge through in a stock vehicle.

People who picked it up from SoCal..What areas did you visit on the way back home? I was thinking of going up to Glacier, back to Yellowstone, down through the Rockies, over to Moab, antelope valley, then back down home.

This would be in May/June (or whenever the camper is done). I just like mapping things out and creating 3-5 different route plans.
