I did buy the extended (platinum, I think) warranty, buy I’m coming up on 36k and wondering if there’s anything I should pay special attention to before I cross the 36k mark, like things that have been common for the 3rd gen, esp first production year models.

Things I have on the list:

-Buzzing door seals - although mine barely does it and I’m wondering if I’m rolling the dice by having them replaced

-head unit sometimes won’t communicate with iPhone

    -whistling LCA’s

All minor stuff in the big pic, but anything I should take a close look at to see if a future problem is lurking?

Perfect. Forgot about that. I’ve got my rtt hanging over it so maybe it’s been protected enough. It hasn’t been a problem yet but I’ll def do that.

Check your carpet padding under your carpet for any moisture. It doesn't come through the plastic backed carpeting and is hard to notice a leak unless you are looking for it.

Some of those are TSB’s and not affected by your warranty anyway.

For the brake light leak? Or a different leak?

Wasn't the brake light. Somewhere on the driver's side front through the cowling area. Toyota field rep is coming out next week to take a look at it. Warranty was denied due to a wire I passed through the grommet and sealed around (even though the water isn't coming in there), so if you've ran any wires through the firewall it wouldn't be warrantied regardless of the cause.

TSBs aren't usually done free outside of warranty. The only stuff they generally repair outside of warranty are Safety Campaigns (recalls) and Customer Satisfaction Campaigns.

TSBs are just there to identify common problems. If the problem doesn't pop up until after the warranty expires, you might get it repaired for free, but they generally don't.

There can be TSBs for safety-related issues though and those are often covered.

Good to know. I’ve got several wires routed through grommets and sealed, like you. Guess I’ll have to pull all that stuff and pop in some new grommets if I ever get a mystery leak.
