1.1 SWR is good... I installed my antenna pretty much in the same location, electrical ground seems good, but i may be missing plane ground as i can't seem to lower my SWR from 1.9 (1 thru 40 channels) i am running out of ideas to lower SWR for this location, next i may try all the way back by the tail gate (don't like it as much)

What antenna are you using? I have seen it help if you ground the radio shell but that might be on older radios. It also might be the coax cable being to long or short or having the extra wound up too tight in a pile. The CB world can be finicky and lots of work to get a SWR down.

 

Ordered a trd exhaust to put in with my brother over thanksgiving and didn’t notice it had two stickers on it. One for Tacoma and one for tundra. Well it was a tundra so finally got the right exhaust today but brother was gone so I asked the cost to put it on. They wanted 240 and said it was a two hour job. Well did it by myself in about 45 min with a 14mm and channel locks.

 

Catback exhaust is stupid easy on these trucks. My local Big Als wanted $100. Think it took me 30 minutes tops.

I've tried 5' Wilson fiber glass and a 102" whip with a riser and both act exactly the same way with the SWR around 2.0.. I will try grounding the radio housing and see what happens... Thanks,

Dealer charged me $50 to remove from the truck I was trading in an install on the one I was buying. It was like new and they offered no extra on the trade with it left on so that was a an easy decision. And yeah, it's easy enough but I hate crawling under there.

 

Um...no. That's not how it works.

 

Well I'm over 3400 miles into a 4100 mile 5 day road trip. if you do it right they most certainly do get good fuel mileage.

 

I feel like you would be lowering your performance with this, unless you were driving in reverse. Snorkels are designed to allow minimal amounts of water from storms in, and the little amount that does make it in should be harmless. Engines deal with small amounts of water all the time as water is a main byproduct of gasoline combustion, and the amount from the snorkel should be negligible.

As I was typing this stuff up, I realized I only believe this because it's what has been said to me, and it does make some sense. However, I did try looking for some sort of proof or study on the amount of water a snorkel absorbs in a typical storm, and couldn't find anything.

Does anybody know where something like that could be found? I've searched Google Scholar a bunch.

 

Today I installed some @deAutoLED.com interior bulbs, blew my first fuse while doing it wahoo! I can see clearly now the halogens are gone...amazing difference!
