Having a hard time trying to decide between the icon rxt and/or Deaver U402 leaf springs. Any opinions? 90% empty bed.

I have the RXT springs but aren't installed yet but one of the main points for me was the adjustability of the spring. Light with less lift, medium with more lift and heavy with most lift..
    Choose your setting.
Plus the Fox 2.5's I bought from accutune were tuned around these springs.

Thanks bud. I’m paring with Kings 2.5. I’m also digging the adjustability of the ICON’s my self but I also here great things about Deaver. My gut is telling me ICON rxt.

I just ordered (yesterday) the RXT springs after debating the same purchase. I haven’t received them yet but I ultimately went with the RXTs for their adjustability. I will be running 2.5 king RR shocks as well. I don’t think you can go wrong with deavers but I wish they made a pack that gave the options for load capacity the the Icons give.

For some reference. This is icon rXT with option 3 the highest setting. 39.5” from ground to fender with about 100lb in my bed. They ride great. I like how there is no overload leaf. 400lb in here at one point and it dropped me about .75”

Leaf springs are pretty simple design, I debated between Dakars and Deaver but Deaver is known for leaf springs while OME is not though they provide a decent pack. I will say that I have none of the issues that most people have with Dakars. I can't speak about the Icons because I have not seen a lot of data on them, Icon is not the best company to work with and have poor customer service. I have the U402 Stage II kit which started as the Stage I kit and love it, no issues, no squeaks

Almost every leaf pack made is adjustable. Whats the difference between the U402, stage 1, 2 or 3? You add or remove a leaf...How do you adjust the RXT pack? You add or remove a leaf....

They do, you can call Deaver and have them make a custom pack for you as well. If you want to move from Stage 1 to 3 or 2 its simply adding or removing a leaf, you can buy the leafs to do this.

I went with icon rxt (not installed yet either) because even without the extra leaf added ‘ stage 1’ there is no loss in bed capacity.. same as stock.. and u begin to add capacity and height with the extra leaf either swapped out or added.. i believe bed capacity is lost w deavers but the ride is supposed to be butter.. and i think the icons actually increase wheel travel to 10” or so.. not sure about the deavers.. anyway i will post once installed ‘stage 1’ about ride

Payload capacity is not increased or decreased with the leafs, it's simply managed differently depending on which stage you choose. Toyota doesn't identify a bed capacity or even a rear axle payload, they simply advertise total payload which is just GVWR - Curb Wight. That being said the Toyota rear leafs werent designed for constant heavy loads which is made evident by many people reporting sag when running only a truck topper, often they get AALs and bags. With LEaf packs your capacity is the same but allows for constant loads. A u402 Deaver pack wont reduce your bed capacity, in fact it lets you manage those loads more efficiently.

400lbs constant load sitting at 3" without sag is impressive. We can see from the post above that with 400# the RXT sagged 3/4".

You may be thinking of the Deaver J66 which only provides 1.5" of lift with the bed unloaded, load the bed and you lose the lift, its designed to have better suspension movement when offroading.

Your limiting factor in suspension travel will not be the leaf pack but the shock length. This is why many people do shock relocations for longer shocks

@Jetboy818, If you havent already also check out, OME, Alcon, and AllPro. They make leaf packs as well

I Chose the RXT pack because I will only run a 2” lift up front (6112). I knew before hand that it will never carry a load as well as other packs especially ones with loverod leafs. If I carried the max load or more I would be about leveled (38” from ground to fender)

If your carrying a constant heavy load and you have a 2.5-3” lift up front this pack isn’t for you.

Yes it was the j66 or j59.. supposedly the best ride out there.. i wanted to go that route but i didn’t want to lose any capacity. Didn’t even look at the expedition series till now thanks for clarifying.. And to be clear the RXT shock paired with the RXT spring has 10” of travel from stock hangers. Full droop to collapsed on bumpstops according to icon. But i guess you’d get that if you increased any spring rate matched to a expended shock

I dont know if the J66 or J59 are the best out there. Leaf packs are built for specific uses, I can say the J66 would not meet my requirements.

I can't find any technical data that supports a 10" shock travel. Thats super cool that it does but Icon has been very vague in their specs, they say it provides better travel but won't give specs, they also use words like "potential." Well it either does or it doesnt. We do know that King OEM replacements offer 8.6" of travel and with the ext versions about 9.5"

I spoke with icon tech support yesterday inquiring about bed capacity and various stages of their leaves.. (Adrian) the tech is the one who told me about 10” of travel.. paired with their RXT shock.. my fox 2.0 has 9.2.. and i don’t think I’ll ever use it all.. & if i do then yee haw!!

To the OP i don’t think you could go wrong either way.. I can’t really advise as I’ve not rode on my icons yet I’m just regurgitating stats. I’ve only heard good things about deavers

Watching this thread for more input. Just getting started on my 2015 DCSB build and the only thing I'm sure about at this point is that Archive Garage Hangers with 3.6" shackles, cross tube and HD U-bolt w/super bumps. To the ops that have installed Deaver #402 expeditions and Icon RXT in the past few months, how have they met your expectations?

I can only say good things about the RXTs I’ve rode on them for a few months now (option 1) pretty damn smooth overall. It doesn’t float around like it did factory.. it’s feels firmer (E rated tires 295/70/17) but in a good way.. I would not recommend option 1 for any but light loads.. had 500lbs in the bed and it sagged more than I’d like.. I am going to (option 2) soon with wheelers bump stops very soon. But sorry i can’t give a comparison to the deavers as i haven’t run them before

Anyone have a comparison of ride heights between the deaver stage 1 and the RXT config 2. I don’t have much bump travel left with the RXT config 2 and Archive ubolt flip with superbumps. I am debating switching to the Deavers if they will give me a bit more lift and possibly carry a load better. Normal added weight is just sliders and hilift and maxtrax but I want it to perform well with ~300 lbs in the bed for camping and biking.

Not yet, Ryan thought the spring rate would be too high and affect ride quality, advised figuring out bump travel and then possible revavle. How does option 3 ride with minimal load?

I haven’t tried 3 yet, but option 2 is noticeably stiffer unloaded than option 1. I’d have to think that you’d want 200-300lbs of constant load on option 3 for it to ride comfortable. But option 3 would give you that extra 1/2” of travel before bumps..
