To me, the Element has promise but it does not seem to produce as much gas pressure at the nozzle as I'd like. You would have to be quite close in to the fire, looks like within 1 metre. Are there any videos of the Element fighting an actual engine-bay gasoline fire, which is the most likely scenario for us? The high pressure fuel rail on my diesel develops 100 bar of pressure, if that system on a gas engine loses fuel containment while you are that close, you will have a very bad day.

Pretty sure I would need to waste one Element teaching my wife how to ignite it. Fire extinguisher is much easier to use, just pull pin, squeeze trigger, aim at base of flames.

Fire extinguishers are a great idea and should be a part of everyone's vedc. I have put out 2 car fires on afton mountain with mine.

That being said, do not carry one in your vehicle unless you have a sturdy and safe mount for it. In the event of a mvc, a loose fire extinguisher becomes a deadly projectile.

Tru dat. I am looking at that headrest mount but I think it is not a great idea. You are adding up to 3.2 kg to the headrest. You do not want mass there because it will increase the forward displacement of the headrest in a collision. The rear passenger has a good chance of smashing his forehead on the extinguisher too, depending on how tall the driver is.

It looks great if you have a roll cage you can attach it to though.

The white one is probably only A&B class, what you want is an ABC.
FWIW,...after the fire marshal inspected my house last week, my ABC in the shed will still work at 0 degrees.
So this is good to know for you Northern boys as well..

Standard on 2018, at least in Canada.

I prefer pocket sand. It's lighter, less expensive, it's always within reach, and has more applications than just extinguishing fires .

Don't buy that piece of shit it doesn't have a UL listing. I'm not sure why Jay Leno pitched for this company, because if you look around his warehouse everything on a wall is a UL listed Amerex or Badger clean agent Halotron or Halon.

Clean agent extinguishers make sense in certain applications, but if it's your first line of a defense in a car fire you could find yourself with a car that is still burning
