My stock truck with ECT on has this lurching really bad under about 40mph. With ECT off, it’s fine, even if I keep the RPM up with S-mode. ECT does something to the throttle response and/or the torque converter behavior that causes the lurching when you get on the throttle after coasting.

That’s not to say you’re wrong about driveline lash, but I don’t think it’s the root of this specific problem.

I assume OVTune fixes this too?

@OVTune, I think you mentioned a while back that some dealers may be including your tune on new Tacos next year (someone correct me if I'm wrong...). If so, is there a process for dealers to engage you? Just thinking ahead; I really like and respect the dealer from which I bought my last 2 Tacos (I know, hard to believe). I haven't (and won't) mention my tune to them, but if it really is being "opened up" to dealers, I would think about mentioning it to them for their future sales....but only with an official "go ahead".

I have 1.04 and only use ECT when I want the truck to stay in its power band, like when I'm driving mountain back roads. The rest of the time I leave it off to get better gas mileage. Somewhere buried in this thread is an OVTune post that will confirm that ECT uses both a different, more aggressive throttle curve and a different shift profile. The shift profile is quite obvious. At most speeds, if I push the ECT button while cruising, the transmission will immediately downshift one gear and hold in the 2k-3k range instead of 1k-2k. It'll also hang onto each gear longer when accelerating steadily. Less obvious, but noticeable if you look for it, is that the gas pedal is more responsive. The ECT button behaves similarly with the stock tune, but the effect is much more noticeable and useful with the tune installed.

Personally, I'm glad that OVTune kept this functionality.

Thank you for providing a mature and helpful comment. I think I have been 86'd by Matt for asking too many stupid questions so I often have to resort to TW members for help... which at times can feel like being Donald Trump in a crowd of liberals or something haha.
