 i have it set to 20scfh right now. tried the slower wire speed on a few test pieces and couldnt get as clean of a weld. just not the right sizzle for my skill level.

My buddy and his kid want to make a small little forge to make knives at home so he had some pieces of 1/4” plate plasma cut out and asked me to weld it together for him. Got a 6 pack of Mountain Dew and some ribs that he smoked as my payment.

I am curious how your killing contact tips by reducing wire feed speed unless your dropping quite a lot to the point your getting burn back constantly .

Flux core is my favorite. 25-30+ volts with 300+ WFS is so much fun.

    Stuff. Also things.
Just getting started with a Hobart 210MVP and 75/25. This was with 0.030” wire, on 1/8 mild steel.

Any and all input would be appreciated. I’m going to try to start working on welding in different positions and I’ll try to post them up here for feedback. I have a ton of stuff to weld on the truck, so I need to get up to speed ASAP.

    Anyway, thanks!

Nice, keep practicing. And when you're done practicing, practice twice as much as you practiced before.
Try all possible thickness you can possible weld with that machine. And when you're done, do it all over again.

Nice, great job! Next joint you do like that, tilt vertically and run a bead downward. Tell me how you like that. I prefer to weld any joint vertically whenever I can. I feel like the welds tend to come out looking nicer. You seem to have a pretty consistent stack the whole way across. Just keep working on consistency. Looking great so far!

I am curious why you went with .030 wire ??

I pretty much just use .023 for everything unless I get into serious bucket rebuilding .

I think the universe conspires against me since .023 is the only wire I have to buy every other size gets donated

That stuff is awesome! Not much use for a home welder, but it's still fun to use.

Yup. I'd only get it for home if I was building tow trucks or roll off box services

.023 handles everything for the most

Like I said unless I get into rebuilding back hoe and loader buckets which the neighbors think is a good idea to keep using till the teeth are gone the shanks are gone for the most .

I have enough .045 dual shield to last the rest of my welding days .

It is nice to just swap feeders and go to town .
