I had one of my worst days in the woods on Monday. Rained mid morning all the way through to the evening. 9 hunters, the young guy (14) got a shot at his first buck but missed. He was using a borrowed rifle, we couldn't get his to hit the paper and be comfortable with it. I saw 4 tails in the morning and that was it. Wet cold and miserable. It was so much better than work.

This knowledge is key. A bad day in the woods is better than a good day in the office.

Looks like my old Knight in-line will make its way back to my hands for the late BP season!

There's still hope yet that I get to shoot at another deer and miss

man I've been in rain and frozen rain mix for almost two weeks. coming home soaked every day. my rain pants don't seem to be holding up anymore. but I've heard people say, nobody kills a deer by staying home lol

that looks like some good woods though and wish I had snow here right now.

I could drop one or two, almost every day, if I didn't live in the city limits and only 2 blocks from a high school

I do know that it's legal to kill one with a bow inside the city limits :D

I live a a neighborhood overloaded with blacktail. But we have a huge watershed on one side and county land behind our house. Can't hunt anywhere around there. But all the neighbors give me a little nudge saying, I'm sure nobody would mind a few less deer around here HAHAHAHA. but I'm law abiding and don't have a bow anyways. My one neighbor said he was hiking through the green belt behind our house to get holly for xmas decorations and saw a bow hunter. Also the deer are tame AF. They'd just walk right up to you to see if you have apples. Brings a lot of predators into the neighborhood though.

Back straps steaked out and sealed. Loins left whole just trimmed and packed individuals (not in photo) and shoulders wrapped whole... Hams will be at the processor tomorrow to get their grind on.

here in western VA our late muzzle comes in week before Christmas and can be real good if you catch that 2nd rut. our deer heard is out of balance and lots of breeding in Dec.

I'm hoping for the second rut too. Been warm since the end of modern gun on Sunday and late BP starts the 8th.
