ouch, man. Sorry to hear that. I had ankle surgery a few years back so I know the feelz. The 8th would probably work better seeing as how my birthday is on the 9th, so I could potentially convince/force the gf to camp and do a hike then...lol:boink:

If we camp up on the ridge line near the trailhead there are a couple trails around there including passage 20/21 of the AZT although 20 would prob be the better one to hike as 21 just follows the road for a long while.

Well, I'm down for whatever. I used to hike up to class 3/4 fourteeners in Colorado all times of the year and I'm a rock climber, so I'm good with whatever people want to do. The gf is all about the views though whereas I like intensity and challenge.

I like to get down with the get down.

Nice I am trying to plan a trip up to CO in the summer to do the Alpine loop and Imogene pass, planning on knocking off a couple 14'ers if the ankle is better.

If you like climbing in the snow Agassiz in Flag is really good. Only permitted to climb while it is snow covered. Multiple routes but the most direct is going up through the ski resort which is allowed and following the ridgeline to the top. AZ's 2nd highest peak and if you are really adventurous you can hit AZ's Highest peak nearby

Funny you mention that. I've already discussed hitting Humphrey's with the gf. I have also seen Agassiz online as well, so these are definitely on the to do list.:benchpress: lol

I do a little backpacking, rockclimbing myself! Browns peak is fun as hell good scrambles eve though I prefer something in the 5.10+ range! Snow at Chevelon Creek is fantastic! Great trout fishing here!

Nice, man!! Yeah, in regards to rock climbing I am definitely a 5.11 climber in sport but have degraded in my bouldering skills as of late. I just signed up at Focus here not too long ago to get myself back into the swing of things after a 3-4 month break. You go to any of the gyms or strictly outside?

This was my favorite local training area and I have been trying to find something comparable to that around PHX. I've done echo and another one up in Scottsdale, and while they are a challenge in their own right, I miss being able to do my run down the back end of the Manitou Incline.

I used to climb heavily at Phoenix Rock Gym and Climbmax....more at Climbax though....haven't climbed at all since last June and only a few sessions before that due to tearing my wrist (sept '18) and getting rear ended and fuct up by some lady on her cell phone...broke rib #10, grade 3 AC tear right shoulder, Concussion, neck injury, permanent optic nerve damage (right eye), right calf tear...the norm. Just got diagnosed with PCS- Post Concussive Syndrome due to my ol' brain not healing right after the accident.

Doing better and have been cleared...actually nervous to climb! AAahhhhhhhhhhhh!

Soon mountains! Soon I will have these meaty little fingers inside you! SOOOOOOOON!

Ahh the Manitou stairs saw that when i was researching the Barr trail. If you want some local butt kicker hikes i can certainly let you know about them.

If your looking for climbing heres a good spot. https://www.mcdowellsonoran.org/visit-the-preserve/recreation/rock-climbing/

Something I'll probably end up getting into down the road.

Here's the spot I'm thinking for a campsite 33°42'26.1"N 111°20'15.2"W The weather is looking reasonable right now, above freezing light to moderate winds. That spot sits on a ridge and offers views west for sunset and east over the lake. If it is taken, there are a ton of other spots up there or heading down El Oso on the lake side.

Camped there before! Awesome spot! Done a lot of bear hunting in that area off of El Oso Rd. Largest bear taken out of AZ was north of Punkin Center there off of Denton Trail...saw a nice cinnamon sub-adult sitting on a log last year coming down the backside of Four peaks toward roos! He was just chillin! Super cool, Im in! Some good tracks not too far from there! Also Workman Falls in just north next to the Hells Hole Trail! BA!

Looks great! I’ve been wanting to go up in that area for a while. Only been here for about 4-5 months so I’m still exploring.
