This confuses me also. My NEC(MOS for non-navy types) its actually titled AWS Sup(AEGIS Weapon System Supervisor).

 

Everyday is my AWS day...I do cloud shit

 

AWS is Alternate Work Schedule. Basically I do 9 hr days M-Th and 8 hr on Friday one week and off the next Friday. I've always heard of it referred to as a 9/80 schedule when brought up in regard to the private sector. Government calls it AWS from everything I've seen.

Nah. That's just teleworking.

 

These acronyms got me over here like, lolwut? I move dirt that's in one place to another place.

 

You're not the only one. I get emails at work where I don't know what they're talking about because of all the acronyms. In government, they love to assume you know what all the acronyms mean so they throw them out without defining them.

Nothing wrong with moving dirt. I would rather be out doing manual labor than sitting at the computer in the office. Sometimes I think I would have been better off learning a trade instead of getting a degree.

 

Haha. The worst part is I've done it so long and good enough at it, that now I spend a lot of time sitting in an office. Looking at giant pieces of paper and moving the imaginary dirt in my head, then telling people how much it will cost.

The best part of government acronyms...when you spell it out and there are other acronym gems hidden within the original acronym. Create those acronyms and you will have achieved elite gov't office-work supremacy; when you know you really have arrived.

Anyone have thoughts on a Dec meet or wait until after the holiday madness?

 

Im going to a Philly cheesesteak meet on Dec 8.. it counts as a meet, but not a Nova meet. And lots of people dont want to go to Philly just for a sandwich

 

Nice. I've been keeping an eye on that thread. I'm contemplating heading up to that if I'm done with the new diff break in and get the fluid changed before it.

 

It might be my last meetup as a modified truck this year..

some people dont like cities. Its ok. I dont mind them, but dont want to live in a city.
