My dealer has something similar, but it requires that they do all the preventative maintenance for records and warranty....f that. To the OP, you better make sure that your agreement states something otherwise.

    See my build page!
I had my first one the other day. They are not very quick. Took 3 hours for the 5k mile service, oil change, and the application of TSB.

it is a scam..........it is a clever way for the dealer to get you to always go there for service work and then up sell on other maintenance items and or repair work which they will bone you on price for.

You’re right about that. Very sloppy work. At least at my local dealership.

Excellent point. Again the fine print requires maintenenace but won't lay out price for maintenance.

Not to mention that if anything happens to the dealer including name change, and the lifetime warranty may be null.

Depends on how your state regulates "service contracts" .

My Uncle bought a Camry that had a lifetime warranty too, fine print was that Dealer had to perform all the maintenance there including even buying tires too.

He may have requested it. I don't think it is part of the service at 5k.

Right it is every 10k, was thinking they might force him into 5k changes for that warranty

    Ewwwe. That sucks.

Delaerships changed their guidance from oil change every 5k miles to 10k miles when the industry went to a model that included maintenance with purchase.

You can not beat any of the priority dealerships in hampton roads. They are by far the best dealerships around in the area.

I was wondering the same. I just had my 5k service and they said the first oil change is at 10k.

Well, two things...first, I didn't realize it was a 10K thing, and 2nd...they did it anyway. I will have them do it again at 10k, just so I can get back on the original schedule.

Sweet! I was hoping they were going to do mine at the 5k mark... I'm so used to doing previous vehicles every 3k/5k that 10k scares me a bit.

The synthetic is a big reason. Often, hard to say? We've had cars with 10k intervals and had no problems. I know they are both still on the road probably getting close to 200k. Our neighbor has one and the other is still showing up on the state website.

I had a couple big end failures on my bikes, but there were big contributing factors that were not oil related. Hahaha!

I'll see you back here in another 386k to find out? That's my plan anyway.

@Airborne22 I'm with you on that. I never had a problem in my old scion of more than 10 years, and I attributed that to changing the oil often (never more than 3k miles). So you're right, old habits are very hard to break sometimes.

@tonered I like the 386k mile plan! I'll join you on that one!

Yea my dealership offered something similar. There is fine print in there though. You HAVE to do ALL required maintenance with them. If you don't fall within their time-frame or mile-frame for the maintenance, you loose the benefit. Also the cost of doing all the required maintenance by them can run really high. For eg at my dealer its $26 to rotate tires. Lastly after my experience with the dealership, I really don't trust them. I don't know if they're actually changing my oil, or if they do, what brand of oil they're using. I'd rather do it myself or ask my mechanic who will do it for a fraction of the cost and I'll have peace of mind. Just my 2 cents.

Given the number of 80s shitboxes that I see running around here, it has to be possible. I was behind a Cutlass Cierra wagon this morning that looked to be in great shape.
