They did make comments on Social Media that we’re aligned with what you stated, I don’t know if they actually did come on here and defend themselves. I’m not going to go dig through the threads to find it though, not enough time in my day.

As for their banning, they clearly aren’t going to come on here (unless they get froggy after a few beverages). They cut and run and I don’t want to say anything about their character but, it’s pretty tough to come back and face an angry crowd.

I’ll discuss it with the other mod’s, and I don’t have an issue banning their accounts.

Part of the reason they haven’t been banned or had their vendor tag pulled is because they cut and run, filed bankruptcy and are dealing with the legal ramifications for it. Other instances have been that the vendor was actively taking orders while simultaneously not resolving outstanding issues.

I’ve never ordered anything from them so I can’t speak on experience. I believe that they did do that.

Honestly, since they pretty much stopped coming here and are dealing with this in court it’s fallen off our radar.

No, they are not asked to pay anything to be a vendor. Probably one of the few places out there where they aren’t required to pay to be a vendor.

Like I said, it did fall off our radar and there hasn’t been any drama between them and members here on TW so it wasn’t something we were forced to continue to be involved in

Yes. I placed an order with them for skids and they stopped answering the phone less than a week later. It was part of a huge group buy for Hawaii and they told me everything was nearly ready and they could get my skids on the pallet because they were on hand (unlike bumpers and sliders...)

Like @4x4Runner said, it’s pretty unlikely they’d come on here again. I’m sure they’ve been legally advised to not face the music.

Just my opinion, and NOTHING based on facts to back this up, but, next time they surface, you'll see a new name, and they'll be selling aftermarket stuff for Jeeps. That crowd and the Toyota crowd don't share much info....They'll be able to move undetected in that new crowd for a while. Even with the more recent adventures, the off road industry was very good to them. They'll return to the well with an empty bucket. And someone will fill that bucket. JMHO....and worth about as much as the value of 10 Pelfrybilt tee shirts

If you check the original post in this thread, I was the one who first found their bankruptcy. You're welcome.

Is anyone legally able to copy their products now?

Not for my own benefit, but could someone on a whim find a used pelfrybilt slider, call it their own and begin selling it without any legal ramifications?

    Legally?

    No.

Do they have means to come after you?

    Mehh...

I think that type of Plaintiff work (patent law) is contingent so provided YOU have money as the person knocking off their product they can come after you.

Typically what can happen is they’ll wait for a knock off company to become lucrative then they’ll strike with a suit.

Now... thats assuming the Pelfray’s own the patents on their products. These people are horrific managers of money. So I would assume they didn’t even own a majority of their own company. I wonder if someone else doesn’t have the patents.

I imagine a carbon copy of their offroad parts would be an easy excuse for a suit. But considering the amount of sliders, roof racks, or even wheel designs that look similar to each other, it wouldn’t be too difficult to just copy the parts and change a few small details.

Like I said, I wouldn’t be doing this, I work a 7-5 and have no desire to run a company on the side :anonymous:

Their bumpers were pretty well designed, or at least looked really good. It would be interesting to see what kind of patents they held. Hell, they used a third party to manufacture the bumpers and possibly other items. You could technically do all the work without a shop just no R&D etc.

Almost certainly no, they likely didn't have patents but the designs would still be protected business assets, those assets will become the property of one of their creditors.

Hell with it, I say redesign it, and change the logo. China has been doing for decades. Send them your details, they will spin up a factory for you if you want. Mass produce that shit in different colors.
