If I hadn't already bought a MT that would have sold me.

Oh wow, I stand corrected. There is at least one guy!

Really though, op should get what he wants. If he doesn't he'll always wish he had.

If for some odd reason I wanted an auto but ended up with a manual, I'd be kicking myself every time I was stuck and didn't have cc. Or every time I had to ride the clutch to not go Mach 1 in reverse.
I did the same thing when I bought an auto.

Your comment hits too close to home, I’ll be the first to advocate that I bought an auto because I took someone else’s advice... “no
one wants to drive a manual truck” (erhm... thanks dad) so I bought an auto.

There are days I like it and days I wish I had a manual... maybe it’s time for a trade in...

One thing I would miss though is the cruise control feature that adjusts to the speed of the guy in front of you.. tough to beat when you’re traveling 7 hours one way and are out of coffee

The manuals have radar cruise control too!! Don't love tss, but that feature has me sold. I wouldn't have switched if it was only on the autos. When you push in the clutch it lets off the gas so you can shift, then release the clutch and it takes back over.

Bought auto so the wife could drive it. She ended up getting her own vehicle couple months later though. For me at least, once I get that idea in my head that I should have done something different, it drives me crazy. So I traded in on an manual.

Well isn’t that just a bitch....

The sad thing is, if I trade this thing in... I will not settle for anything less than a cavalry blue TRD Pro with a manual....which will probably set me back another $10k :spending:

Another thought on adaptive cruise and manuals. I swear it must make more torque in cruise mode. In places where I'd normaly down shift I'll be ready to shift in cruise but the truck will just push right through without bogging at all. I'm sure it's all in my head though

Oh man I love cavalry blue. I went in to get a 19 cav blue off road but I would have been paying alot more for essentially the same truck I had but with an mt. Ended up getting a sweet deal on an 18 off road and pretty much broke even.

I wish they would put a Hemi v8 In these trucks with a manual . The automatic on these trucks is so bipolar and the manual feels like your driving a 5ton truck . lol gonna get shit for this .

I'm not sure about a hemi... but something with more pep for sure. You're not wrong about the manual, it drives like a truck. It reminds me of driving my old '82 Datsun 720, that's why I love driving it so much though.

This is becoming true, but I have a cool counterpoint:

I drove up to the dealership to get my last free oil change and this young (19, 20 yo) attendant walked up with stars in her eyes and said "a Manual TRD Pro!! That's my dream truck!" She hopped in and drove it back to the service area like a pro herself.

I stood there and thought to myself: "Huh...maybe, just maybe there's hope for these millennials after all..."

Ha ... I had the complete the opposite experience where I bought my truck and did the initial service done in south Florida. Young worker grabbed the key, headed to the truck, opened the door, and closed it, walking back to ask co-workers who can drive a manual.

I stood there laughing as to how mesmerized people were to see a Manual tacoma.

If the tech couldn't drive my manual in to do the work they wouldn't be touching it

    Hahaha

What is not shown is fig. 2 explaining how much more convenient ATs are in real world driving.

Joking aside there are definitely times I wish I had a manual, then I get stuck in traffic and think how nice it is to just sit and sip my coffee while listening to talk radio :pccoffee:

Boredom is definitely true, the most I had ever driven an Automatic in my life was a 30 day rental, it was painfully boring!

I’m sure he meant the service-writer. In all the dealers I work for I’ve never met a tech who couldn’t drive stick. Service-writers are a toss up lol

If my knees and such weren’t so bad, I would have ordered a MT..all I have ever driven.
The AT is convenient but have to add electronics to make up for a MT at times.
I prefer to choose my gears instead having them chosen for me, at least our AT’s have a sport mode to semi control our gears..
