I've seen them test it by dropping a cow carcass from 30 feet onto the wing. Holds up remarkably well.

Yeah, but that's metric. I could probably run 60 KPH. That's like what? 7 MPH American?

    Yes...I know it's 36ish mph...

Since tacoma's air bag sensors use inertia how is this relevant? Cereal question.

2nd gen ones weigh about 200ish with a winch and some LED lights. 3rd gen probably a little more.

That’s probably the US Department of Consumer Bumper Safety
It’s relevant because the inertia (and crumple zones) will be affected by the non-elastic nature as well as momentum of a heavy ass plate steel bumper in front of the sensors

I believe it is attributed to the deceleration. The bumpers need to meet the deceleration criteria of the OE bumper.

Because insurance and engineers factor in the crash bar and figure if you lose that like with most bumpers it for some reason will not work with airbags.

Don't get me wrong I agree it's bullshit . But insurance love to ruin shit with these rules .

The insurance here is hesitant to insure if it's not crash tested.

    This too.

Other bumpers basically remove crumple zones . ARB do not

Because they need the Aus Govt mod plate to sell it. Has to be tested to get the mod plate.

Same with most modifications. Australian police just did a MAJOR crackdown on 4x4 mods a few months ago. Basically set up checkpoints like you'd see a DUI stop in the US, and looked for mods and relevant paperwork.
