Curious if anyone has fitting an aftermarket AGM deep cycle battery to their 3rd Gen? If so which one did you go with and what size...Optima Red Top, Diehard/Odessey Platinum etc?

Have not used it for the Tacoma but I bought a yellow top for the boat and the Miata. no complaints yet, The Miata's battery was still good but I am getting ready to sell it and go back to a Corvette.......ummmm Not. I replaced the batter because the 2012 Battery was still in the car. It still worked under a load test so I keep it on a trickle every other week.

No reason to change the Tacoma battery...but when I do it will be an Optima. Don't need a deep cycle for street.

Resurection of an old TW thread! o_O :anonymous:

Anyone running an AGM battery? I've run Odyssey batteries in my previous trucks and they're great. But what's the story with charging voltage and 3rd gen alternator? Will an AGM work well in a 3rd Gen?

It will but after a deep cycle you should put it on a trickle charger with dedicated AGM setting
