Sabres underlying numbers are very bad during this streak. Something to remember

 

Sabres aren't that good. Most people understand this. Cool for the fans and players. I like to see them doing well, but a lot of those wins were very close and at season's end, I don't see them being a threat at all. But props to Skinner and those boys for making it exciting.

 

I agree. My expectations for this season was fighting for a wild card spot by playoff time, and that is still my thinking. The streak has been fun, but I don't see these guys as a top contender this year. I do like what I see though. They are way more creative, faster on the puck, grittier on the boards, and seem to be finding open spots away from the puck. Defense is definitely more solid. It is easy to be loose and confident when you are continually winning games. I'd like to see how these guys react when they go on an eventual losing streak. Teams in the past have had issues when going in the hole, but this team does seemdifferent.

Regardless, as I've said it before, I just want to see some effort. The last few seasons have been almost unwatchable, although I've continued to watch every game. Glad to see that turning around. I think this team will be a top contender in a year or 2 if these young guys continue to improve.

 

I hope they make it. Although I think Calgary won 10 or so games in a row last year and still missed the playoffs.
Weird how Ryan O'Reily only seems to end up on shitty teams. lol

 

Was thinking the same thing lol. 3 times in a row. Hell of a player too, so you'd think he would be a positive impact.

 

Speaking of Sabres, I used to want to see them do good with Alexei Zhitnik.

Also 10 wins in a row is an awesome achievment .. LA's best is only 9.

Well the Colliton experiment does not seem to going well in Chicago. We lost the the Jets, Vegas but we beat the Panthers (Which doesn't say much). WE suck. It's now official, (If it wasn't before) Dumping Coach Q was the Wrong move. Scotty Bowman should be next.

10 game win streaks followed by 15-20 games with 2 wins and no pp goals in 50+ attempts will easily make a team miss the playoffs. It’s a love hate relationship.
O’Reilly almost ended up on the Flames at one time too. Geez.

 

I think O'Reilly is a good but not great player and he is a little slow after watching him for several years in Buffalo.

More than Pasternak, that's a push

 

Less than Draisiatl though, which were the two comparables that the media seemed to mention a lot. Pasternak was a steal for the Bruins in my opinion and good on them and the player for pulling off that deal. I think in the end if Nylander ends up being a 30-35 goal two way winger it’s a great deal. If he doesn’t progress past what he is now it sucks. That’s the risk in these contracts coming off of entry level deals. You either don’t pay the player for development and go for a bridge deal which can bite you hard in the ass or you pay for future production, which can also bite you hard in the ass.
