It’s a lazy argument for being sad your team getting ass blasted in a bowl. The tendency is more on the coach for getting the team ready, and chances are they weren’t very good at that all year anyways if it overflows into a bowl game.

 

You have too many exceptions to your hypothesis for it to work.

 

Saban gets paid for the bowl appearance, not necessarily based on the outcome. He didn't leave $20mil on the table. The players left $20mil on the table. $20mil that was going to the university, not them.

 

you are debating a different thing here, though. a conference championship means something and is not the same thing as an exhibition bowl game.

 

Who cares now? I dont give two shits that OU won that game. None. It wasnt for a natty...and I didnt play in it.

Saban is never unprepared. Neither his coaches, nor players. That dog want hunt for a coach Saban team. Maybe something else, but not that.

More than likely, Saban was already recruiting. Working the trail, and quite honestly, since this wasnt for a meaningful game, he probably felt as though it got in the way of his job for next year.

 

and doing what saban does... letting the 2nd and 3rd strings play more because they are the future.

 

I brought up The Oklahoma Sooners, due to the possibility of Alabama & Oklahoma playing in this years playoffs.

Not at all. It’s a meaningless game to Texas as they end up in a NY6 bowl UNLESS they win, then OU gets picked having the better record (I believe that’s what I read from the B12).
