auto phone call

Hey all!

i just picked up my baby on black friday and am ridiculously happy with my purchase!

i do have an issue that i'm not finding through search and also on the toyota tacoma subreddit...

My phone is currently paired to my vehicle via BT, when i enter my truck and start it up, it automatically makes a phone call TO MYSELF. i look at my phone and there's absolutely nothing going on with it. i check my call log and see no phone calls made to myself. i'm forced to end the call and proceed with my day. it's not a major deal, but just an annoyance. it happens roughly...1 out of 6 times i start my vehicle with the push-to-start. has anyone else encountered this issue?

here's some info on my phone and vehicle:

Samsung Galaxy S8+ on Verizon.
2019 MGM DCLB TRD SPORT. i do not have the technology package. i'm not sure but i believe i have the entune entertainment headunit?? it's the one below. i apologize for not knowing what it's called, i'm still reading up on my manuals cheers!

Have you tried to resetting the radio to factory settings and re-adding your phone?

 

i haven't tried that yet. the thought never came to my head because it's a brand new truck. sigh..thinking that i already have to factory reset it bums me out, but i'll give it a whirl. thanks for the thought/advice! any idea on how to? not finding anything online. i'll check out my headunit right now and see if there's an option for it in settings.

 

Take it back to the dealer and let them fix it.

I have a 16 Sport and have used a Galaxy S5 that has paired and worked flawlessly for 3 years. I might try an update if I were having issues.

 

appreciate the response. i just inputted my info in that link and unfortunately it says there are no updates available for it. i'll get in touch with my toyota rep and see what he can do about it. just want to see if others have experienced this issue.

 

that happens to me too and i have an iPhone

it only happens to me if i use my voice memos app or have the app open and not closed

 

This is strange. I have not had this issue with my 2019 sport and Samsung s6.

 

You need hondo garage knobs. That will fix your problem.

 

I get this also since the entune upgrade? or the new iPhone ?, I just hit end call and its gone, wouldn't warrant a dealer trip for me

You can actually open a ticket on entune for support. I had to google it but there’s a thread with a toll free number you can call.

 

Three or four times in the last week or two maybe, mine has done this. I didn’t “ring” like it was making a call, but the display on the head unit showed like a call was connected to my phone. I looked at my phone and it wasn’t doing anything. Still off. I just pushed the button on the display to end call and that was that.

I have an iPhone and this issue wasn’t happening on startup. It was just random.

 

I have a Galaxy S8 and can confirm mine will do this too. It seems to happen more if I have an audio streaming app open or running already. It's as if it tries to connect, but triggers a phone call instead with no audio. I've found that turning off my bluetooth on my phone and turning it back on will fix it. I've never had a phone pair up quicker than with this truck, so it's not a huge hassle for me. If it happened every time, I'd probably be annoyed for sure.

 

My '15 did it a couple times. Upgraded to a Kenwood and hasnt done it since.

 

My iPhone doesn't do it. Entune Plus. Latest firmware - I'll check the actual version and get back.

 

Entune is a steamy turd. Un-pair the device and go into settings on the phone and forget the connection to the Toyota Tacoma. Power cycle the phone then re-pair it. Should be good to go.
