Can’t seem to find the answers on here.

It’s a fully stock Toyota Tacoma 2wd double cab trd pre runner 06.

•what’s a good brand for replacing the whole suspension?
    (Shocks,coils,uca,lca)

•What is this 5100 series everyone is talking about?

I’m going to get the leafs replaced by Toyota from the recall.

    Any tips would be appreciated.

Billstien 5100’s are extremely popular because they’re good quality, won’t break the bank, ride very well, and allow for use with OE or aftermarket springs.

Replacing the UCA’s isn’t necessary if you’re not going to lift.

Replacing LCA’s is often only done for LT setups and is quite expensive either way.

I really like my OME leafs and coils. They’re probably the most commonly recommended out there.

Why on earth do you think you need to replace everything?

New shocks should do it, along with your rear springs.

Call Marie @HeadStrong Off-Road for some OE equivalent shocks at a better price than the dealer would offer.

Thank you. I’m just using the truck to go to work, and get from point A to point B. Just street and freeway drive. Just need a smooth ride since the suspension is gone. Literally feel every bump on the road.

Thanks for explaining that, I’m honestly new to all this. So coils and shocks should be good enough? And with the leafs replaced as well?

Just got the truck from my father, the truck has 360,000 miles. I just assumed might as well get everything fixed or replace it.

I see. Welp, the OEM leaf springs are complete junk so if you plan on doing any hauling I would make that a priority.

    Be careful.

If the truck has been well maintained, it likely has a good bit of life left in it, but it wouldn't be hard to quickly spend more than it's worth if you start touching everything.

If Toyota is going to do the springs for free, that's fine. Even though they aren't 'haul worthy', they are being replaced on a safety basis.

But you might well find some lightly used OE shocks from someone lifting their truck for a bargain price.

A harsh ride can also be a function of tires and tire pressures. For your use a P rated tire and something in the low 30's for pressure is all that's needed.

I don’t plan on hauling. Just a daily driver.

Yeah I get you, the engine was rebuilt about 100,000 miles back. I just bought new tires 2 weeks ago. So just going down the list.... I’ll try out just replacing the shocks and coils, and bushings, maybe the joint.

    Thanks you guys.

In that case, like @Clearwater Bill said, I would buy someone’s take offs from a new 2018/2019 TRD OR.

I would definitely replace all bushings that look like they could use it.

Why not just stay stock ?
The stock Bilsteins on my '06 went a long way...
I doubt you'll wear them out on a commuter before you retire or trade the truck ... and the ride is just fine !

How many miles on this truck ?

Lesson learned for me from mine..... at this stage, only replace what is broken.

The truck has 370,000 miles on it, same suspension from day one. Lol it’s beyond worn out. Trying to leave it stock, but just need to replace shocks and coils.
