I tried all my lenses, two fully charged batteries, on a tripod.... Everything.....it's like my camera is just dead. Fuck this shit!!!

I turned it off and plugged both batteries in and resetted all the settings and it works perfect.........so that's was either my fault or someone played with the settings oon my camera... But whatever. I'm so over this

I basically want to know the data about the shot. IE: aperture, shutter speed, ISO etc. Your camera records that with every shot you ever take.

It looks like your TTL is metering for 18% gray in your flower pics and turning them darker. FEC for for +1 or 2 stops and chimp and test.

The keys picture looks fine and I can honestly see a focus point in all of the most recent flower pictures. I'm really starting to think there really is nothing wrong with the camera and perhaps user error. The exif info would seriously help in these situations.

dont know what any of that means (yet) still RTFM.

and yes i see a focus point as well on all the photos.... but when in running like an f4 and and 1/3000th why is *almost* the whole photo coming out blurry? (on cars only though) i havnt noticed any of it on things with no glare

Cameras are programmed to meter for an average scene of 18% gray. Which means in any given scene you're looking at, the camera will assume you're looking at something that has a certain "luminosity" so to speak based on averages of thousands of images recorded from the manufacturer.

In other words, if you look at a picture in black and white, take each pixels worth in brightness in terms of how bright each pixel is. Your camera is programmed to look at what you're looking at and make a judgement on exposure based on the brightness of the average scene. So anything bright white will get averaged to make the whole image darker.

Look at this shot above. There's a clear focus point at your drivers side window. Your grill is out of focus (OOF). Why? Because your aperture is shallow. Either crank your aperture smaller to f/9 or so or step away from your truck several feet to get is all in focus.

I'm starting to think you should reconsider leaning how to use focus. Focus on areas of your subject with the most contrast, use the correct AF point and try to avoid the focus-recompose method.

Please experiment with depth of field as well. f/4 is really shallow and you really need to be aware of what you're focusing on when you shoot shallow.

    first off,

    youre the man. +rep sent.

secondly, i will try stepping back more....it is a 50mm so maybe im a bit too close and with something closer ill use a smaller lens....

maybe im just soooo concerned with having shallow DOF that no matter what i keep it around 1.4-3....ill try some other stuff next time man, thanks a lot!

haha thanks for the rep :)

Trust me when I say: experiment with your Apertures from all the way open to all the way closed.

Did you know that at 20' at f/4 your total DOF is 7'8"? Which means that if your camera grabs focus at your drivers side window, you have less than 4 feet infront and rear of that window to have acceptable focus? This is why your grill is OOF in that shot above.

Your best friend will be practice and reading up on advanced photography techniques especially since you are getting into flash.

Practice practice practice! You have a lot of potential, you just need to figure out your equipment ;)

*edit: PS: if you have an Iphone/itouch, download a program called PhotoCalc. It has a calculator that tells you depth of fields with different bodies, focal lengths and subject distances.
