Need to work on consistency but the settings seem to be ok. My fabricator friend said the last one is pretty good for my first time ever welding lol.

    Pushing or pulling the weld?

I do agree, the potential for good looking welds us there.

I like to push the weld, it is a little easier to see the weld puddle.

Thanks, man! I’m definitely going to keep at it, and I’ll post pics as much as I can to see if I’m staying on track. The stuff that I’m welding on the truck is critical, and I want to make damn sure it holds.

Thanks! Are you saying stay in the flat position and just rotate the work piece to weld towards me, or are you saying actually do it in the vertical position?

Sorry if I’m not tracking, I’m still super new to this!

Honestly, it’s what came with the machine when I picked it up from another local member. Maybe I’ll pick up a smaller roll of 0.023 and see how I like it.

If I understand the terminology right, I’m pretty sure I’m pushing. That bead was laid left to right with the nozzle pointed slightly to the right and on a 45 degree angle up and down.

Thanks for the replies, gents! Much appreciated!

Like if you ran the weld horizontally from left to right now join another couple pieces of 1/8” together and turn the material to where the joint is vertical and run from top to bottom. Make sense?

Yep, I think I know exactly what you’re saying. I’ll try it and report back!
Haha! I’m actually right handed. I hold the gun in my right hand to trigger it and I use my left hand to support the right hand.

    Sounds good.

If you are right handed and you went from left to right and had the nozzle pointing to the right then I can only imagine what your arms look like if you were pushing the weld lol

I’m still self teaching myself how to tig, but I did ok tonight. Still not comfortable with it and the consistency isn’t there, but I’m getting better.

Of course! Can’t showcase your crappy ones. Then we would all think you’re garbage lol. Jk. You’re great man. Followed that back half you did of your buddy’s truck recently and you got some skill dude!

Finished this yesterday and put it on my buddy's 3rd gen. Made it so the tent is level with the roof rack and angled in on the sides to keep accessories out of the trees on tight trails.
