    Hi, name's Darren. Own a 1999 Taco 2.7L manual tranny 4x4.

Spent plenty of time on this site and found lots of helps, decided to sign up.

When we bought this truck, we were unaware of frame rust issues, and it wasn't until part of the muffler fell off, that we found the passenger side shock mount had rusted off and the shock was sticking up in the truck bed (not through it).

Have since bought a new Toyota mount; however, I think I'd have been better off buying the mount/frame from AutoRust.... :notsure: Any of you used the Toyota mount and welded it on? i'd like to see pix in order to show the local shop how it should attach.

    Thanks!

I hope the images show. There is no current attachment point to speak of, rusted off.

It is. But pretty much only there. To me the rest of the frame seems to be in good shape, or at worst, could use a frame weld attachment from AutoRust.

You can see there is a repair on the bottom of the frame there, there is also one on the top. Can't wait to get some repair there so I can put new shocks on and have a better ride.

Amen brother E&H was a hard pill to swallow. My pockets aren’t that deep either. Accedemic scholarships helped a bunch. She was a goal keeper on the Soccer team. She graduated in 2014 now I just have to het her sister graduated from VT in 2 weeks

Become a bit of a fan of her. Actually we bought it for a song for my 2nd son who didn't need it at college. I swore I'd never own a standard again, but this gal has grown on me quite a bit. Just drained/filled the power steering fluid and wow what difference there. Also PBBlasted the drivers' side e-brake which was seized up. That's better now. Changed tranny oil, etc. I do hope to keep her going a long while. She's got 300k and runs like a champ.

I've got 4 boys. Eldest graduates from ODU in Spring, 2nd son just started at HSC, and 2 are in high school. All college is theirs to pay for. I wish we could do more, but alas, we have no money tree growing on our property, and goodness do they eat EVERYthing in the house once they hit 13. Fer cryin' out loud.

And in fairness to VA Tech :) I have 2 sisters, a bro-in-law as alums and now a niece attending.

Appreciate your comments re: ensuring their education. My last 2 boys are arguing as to why they should go to college...we're not having any of that ;-)

Tell them so when they’re 50 their bodies aren’t falling apart from all the years of hard work. Tell them that comes from an old body man / welder. Skilled labor is good respectable work but you’ll mever get rich doing it either

Will do, and agreed. I'm all for trades, just get a BA or BS as well (for them). I've got a BA, trades? Jack of all, master of NONE. I learn because I have to, and cannot afford to hire the real experts except from time to time. And I'm under a year from hitting 50 myself.
