@ovrlndkull I’m thinking 4x12x40. Exposed turrets. Can pull double duty. Plenty small enough to hunt this thick stuff here, and more then enough power for out west. Running a 20 moa rail will still work for long distance.600-1000 depending on clarity. Keeps with trying to build a budget long range gun.

That sounds pretty good to me. Sadly I need more magnification out to 1000 than 12, idk what it is with my eyes. I am better than 20/20 but behind glass it's like I'm blind and have a hard time.

Ya will see how often I shoot that far. I figure for 200-600 for mullies and elk will be plenty for 6.5. You better be damn sure shooting critters that far. I know guys go way father then that I’m just not well practiced shooting game that far. Shot a lot of ground hogs at 400-700 with multiple shots but ever tried big game that far.

I am more worried about what's on the other side if a through and through happens or a miss. Especially out west with all the public lands. I'm not so sure about the efficacy of 6.5 on Elk out past 200-300. May not be carrying enough mass and terminal ballistics on something that large out that far. Not so sure about mullies though don't know enough about them to make a judgement on them. I just think they are odd looking ducks.

Probably just as big of a rush as a cold bore shot at 1200 meters and hit a playing card. At my PRS matches there is always a morning prize shoot this one was a cold bore shot unknown distance on the ace of spades whoever came the closest to center won the prize. I didn't win but I hit the thing. That was a win for me. The distance ended up being 1236 meters. There were 50 of us who attempted the shot and only 15 to hit the card so I was extremely proud considering this was when I really just started getting into LR shooting.

Guys are dropping elk in their tracks at 500-600 yards with 140-147 grains. I have buddy that shot a bull at 508 and mullie at 637 with hornady 143 eldx and they both just crumbled.

The ballistics on the 6.5 creedmoor are insane. It just destroys anything it hits under 600 with a well placed shot. Comparing it to the 308 is similar out to 600 then it just smokes it out to 1000 with wind drift and efficiency.

His old man shot a damn moose in Alaska at 400 plus and it folded him. That’s what sold me on it. Then I started really researching it.
It’s been around for awhile but the 1000k guys really adapted it the last 4-5 yrs. It’s here to stay now. To many companies making guns and ammo for it. It’s a proven round.

I’m not saying it’s the do all. But for anything under 500 with a well placed shot it’s lights out. Internal pics are amazing. Google em haha.

Some of the guys that shoot these things are in the mile club. One guy has a 375 cheytac that he's in the 2 mile club. I want to get there one day. The scopes on some of ULR rigs are in the 8-10g range.

Damn are those Rosevelt level Bulls???? I didn't know that they had that much terminal ballistics at those distances to drop such big game. It's funny because this round was developed for gas guns yet the bolt guns seem to really be working well with this round. I can't wait to see if someone comes up with something like the Valkyrie but in 6.5 that could be a wild cartridge.

Ya lr is one thing from 600-1000. When boys start going 1760 yards, which is a mile is nuts. Now like you said guys pushing it too 2-2.5 miles. Unfuckin real. I was happy shooting out to 1200 haha. 1760 is crazyyyy far. You gotta have a lot of patience, time, and deep pockets.

You'd be surprised. I took my box stock Savage 10 in 308 out to 1000 rifle cost 500 bucks Scope was 450. With todays technology and manufacturing even the cheapest Savage Axis Ruger American rifles can easily hit 500 yds and some guys are taking them to 1000

I got the axis for 190. Chassis for 240. I got around 550 in the gun, chassis, 20moa rail and mag. So with cheaper optics easy under a grand and will shoot 500-1000 all day.

A lot of guys don’t believe it but with any decent optics and decent round you can touch 500 pretty easy.

This beer is awesome! Love me some porters and stoudts. Got this and some harpoon Dunkin’ Donuts coffee porter. Both are good if y’all like dark beers.
