Typical Jeep mounts that bend all to shit. I have been there. Rocks will fold in and out the mounts. Great trail rig if you stay out of the Hammers or creek boulders. That's why I like my Tacoma, fully skidded and plated and you can drag it over anything if needed. No worries at all.

Seems like there's nothing special about the base trim, I guess open roof, removeable doors, windshield folds down could be counted as special.

Appears that some of the factory Rubicon bits and pieces can be optioned into lesser trims. Looks like the swaybar disconnects, front locker are Rubicon only, can't option them into lesser trims. Gotta love a standard 180A alternator, 220A and 240A available. Spare tire carrier can handle a 35" spare.

Things like payload and tow capacity that have a low of 1100lbs payload and a low of 4000lb tow capacity, those probably you could aftermarket since it's factory capable to handle a ClassIV hitch, 7-pin with brake controller. There's no way that 3.6l Pentastar is a tow monster.

Maybe you could get a buyin price of ~$35k, could have some appeal.

The 3.6 has more HP in the Wrangler than our Toyota engine, and it is detuned in the Wrangler. When tuned for the Ram it has 305 HP and 270lb torque. The Gladiator will have an enormous aftermarket right out of the gate including superchargers and turbo kits for the Penta engine. I had this engine in a Ram and it was a nice engine. Paired with the 8 speed transmission it was more than adequate. I would imagine that in 2020 the diesel in the gladiator will prove to be the tow monster.

I'm going to cautiously give this truck a look. About the time they get the first year or two kinks worked out, I will be ready to trade the Tacoma. Unless Toyota does something drastic about these transmissions and the overall drivability of the tacoma I will be looking elsewhere. Truck is in the shop and have a F150 for a rental. I almost forgot how well a sorted out engine and transmission drove... Maybe Toyota will do something with the Tundra redesign. I'm kind of holding out for that as well.

It is an exciting time for small trucks...I think Toyota may have to speed up their RnD to keep up with the game...

The other plus is that Jeep has a lifetime unlimited mileage warranty on just about every part on the truck you can buy...as a long time Jeep owner of various years, this is a warranty that should be bought!!!!

They are going to sell more of these than they can build..there are a ton of people that are Jeep fans that have to have a truck bed for work that will be giving this thing a look. I think the only reason they won't sell more of these than Tacomas is that they won't be able to build them fast enough.

Idk I think it’s an acquired taste... if they don’t get the pricing right it’ll be just another wel off mans toy. But if they get it to competing prices like the taco then it can be a banger
