Bed storage container ideas

It is waterproof, and it was issued to me. I did see some for sale online somewhere though, I just can’t remember where. I’ll try to take better pictures of the inside when I get home.

 

Here’s a pic of the inside trays where I keep some tools and straps. All I have underneath at this point is a med kit, but I will be adding more to this as I go.

 

Anyone have a good idea for securing a pelican 150 qt cooler? Want to use it for a upcoming road trip.

 

What are the blue poles that once held the plano box in place?

 

They’re probably those cargo bars you can get at Harbor Freight. If you look at my pic a couple of posts up, you can see that is what I’m using to keep my footlocker close to the tailgate.

 

Back in 2002 I got one of those big black tote box things you can get at Walmart or at lumber stores. I have moved it from truck to truck over the last 16 years. It can hold quite a bit of stuff. I use it just like a car trunk. I have it mounted with eye hooks and two turnbuckle hooks. I can remove it and then reinstall it quickly and easily. It also matches and is sized well for the Tacoma.

 

When I had a 2005 and then a 2010 Tacoma I secured my box by having two lag bolts with rubber washers slid through the front track. I had two holes lined up on the backside of the box. I secured the box with some washers and wing nuts. With the box padlocked the wingnuts could not be accessed. With other trucks I used eye bolts on each side of the box secured with wingnuts on the inside of the box. I then had cables between the bed tie downs and the eye bolts. Adjusting the eye bolts with the wingnuts adjusted the tension on the cables.

Academy has these Plano cases cheap. They easily fit under a cover.

Does that fit crossways between the wheel wells?

 

Home Depot's Husky Mobile Job Boxes are nice. Foam seal to keep water out. Padlock can be used. Pull-out handle for moving them around.
Mine sits on my bed mat and doesn't move during normal travel.
50 gallon is about $50.

Yes but, it doesn’t look like it would fit snug. I was planning on using a couple for camping gear.

 

Anyone find some descent boxes that could sit on the two back floor mats but be easily removed for when you carry extra passengers to the bed?

 

they won't ship to California which isn't their fault but it still sux.
