I recently bought a 2015 Tacoma TRD with the Cat Back exhaust installed from the factory. I don't like the sound and believe I want to go back to the stock exhaust which would be quieter. Are there any options to making the cat back exhaust quiet like the stock exhaust would be such as a resonator? Any recommendations on a resonator that would to the job? Also what is the actual difference between the quite stock exhaust and the cat back exhaust (besides the sound)?

I believe sound is really the only difference. I don’t know if there are options to make it quieter, but one option you might consider is trading it to someone for their stock exhaust. Many people here would love to trade you (myself included), and you could easily get some cash on your end of the deal.

    Where are you located?

Idk where you live but I’d trade the stock exhaust off my ‘15 in a heartbeat. I have a manual and shift by sound hell I can’t hardly hear the truck and forget to shift sometimes.

As others have said the best route is to just trade someone. It’s only 2 14mm bolts and a few exhaust hangers so swapping it is super easy. The only difference is the muffler itself, so all you’d get is a quieter exhaust by changing. Where are you located?

ALOT of people would trade there stock exhaust and probably even toss in 100$ for the TRD exhaust. No many trucks have one i got lucky and mine came installed on my trd sport

It also is 100% stainless so zero rust issues, and I believe it is 2 1/2” pipe over the stock 2 1/4”.

Thanks for all the replies. I have it listed on FB Marketplace and Craigslist and the trades are for non-stainless stock exhaust which I don't want. If anyone has a stainless stock exhaust they wan to trade I live in the Columbus, OH area.

There is no full stainless stock exhaust bud, the only full stainless is the trd which you already have on.

I have a ‘15 TRD Sport and it did not come with the exhaust you have. It has standard exhaust I can not say if it is stainless or not but I don’t think it is

Every car comes with a cat back exhaust lol. Even the prius you see. All a cat back is a pipe and muffler system that is running from the catilitic converters all the way back to the tips/end of your tail pipe. All tacomas even the TRD offroad/Sport have the standard factory exhaust. The TRD Pro comes with the upgraded stainless steel TRD exhaust. It is slightly louder than the oem base system. You can order OEM style replacement cat backs for like 250$ online.

Your options are the factory exhaust (non-stainless, quiet), the TRD exhaust (stainless, louder), or an aftermarket stainless exhaust (loudest).

There is only one TRD exhaust. It comes installed on the Baja/Pro models and is available as an accessory for all others.

95% of sound is from the Chrome tip.

I chopped my TRD Cat-Back off at the spare tire and was surprised at how quite became.
