true but with sears you walk out of the store with what you paid for. they aren't just taking customers money with a promise to deliver

 

When they ceased operations in Canada they screwed thousands of employees out of their pensions. Now there goin after Sears board of directors at the time personally for the losses incurred due to huge payouts, golden handshakes & stock option payouts that if proven in court, directly contributed to Sears Canada goin under. I wish those workers well & the best of luck in gettin there hard earned pensions back.

 

My grandmother just got a stove from there where she walked out with just a promise of delivery.

Many businesses operate normally while in bankruptcy proceedings, Pelfreybilt likely could have righted the ship if they had gone about it differently. I don't think they're actions were malicious, just stupid and overconfident.

 

Since when? Where is that written? I have done many sales purchasing and selling the only ones I am able to get shipped straight to my door without going through an FFL are C&R (curio and relic, I hold a C&R license) and black powder. But that is interstate.

Oh Ok within your state got ya. If your state does not require a 4473 form for a private transfer then that is true. If you purchase through a dealer then you have to go and show identification and still fill out the 4473 under their license for being a firearms dealer. Personally I would never sell a gun to anyone without knowing them.

 

Yeah, Sears Canada did screw a lot of people over, customers included.

 

Pensions can be one of the riskiest ways to save for retirement because most of them do not have a safe guard if the company folds to protect those pensions and deliver them. In some cases the company or gov't can cease the pensions and not pay you a dime for money put in. I'll put my money in my accounts or where I know I will have the money come time to retire.

That said Pensions can also be a really good investment for retirement it is just more volatile if shit starts heading south.

 

Pensions (that meet federal regulations) in the US are guaranteed up to ~$50K per year. If SHTF and the US gov cannot make good on the pensions then the US dollar will be worthless, as well as 401k’s, IRA’s.....

 

This is what I am talking about pensions that are unfunded liabilities especially those within the gov't they are the most common. In some cases due to this the State/gov't can go through a process and kill the pensions. Look into the California Pension Crisis. My cousin lost her pension when Nortel Folded due to it running as an unfunded liabilities and not being insured. There are insured private sector pensions through the PBGC but not all are insured same goes with other types of retirement plans. These types of accounts fall under different Government regulations than the normal banking. Not all retirement investments are insured through the gov't.
