I am looking for a little bit more sound under load. But I don’t want to screw up the already well designed factory intake system.

Anyone try this intake? Might be too little difference compared to oem. But I really don’t want the k&n style because I don’t want too much drone/resonance, plus it looks like it would pull more hot air anyway.

Goals are a little bit more sound and not ruin a well designed intake. Oh, plus I can get this for pretty cheap, not retail. Thoughts?

You’re paying $300 for a tube with no airbox. Just my .02 cents, but I would go with the URD intake that actually draws from the front with cold air. I don’t have it installed on my truck, but when I start focusing on engine mods, it’s definitly what I’ll be choosing.

I have the urd tcai and if you’re willing to put that much $$$ (the one you have linked above) you might as well get one that will add performance.

I never got the MAF calibrator with it and I’ve been fine (still using the TCAI with S/C and UCON EMS from URD)

Buy a snorkel and stop looking at hot air intake systems... Oem is stage 2 water mud injection. It pulls cool air from rt fender bay. Stage 1 is all aftermarket bs. Which uses dissimilar metals and pulls across hot engine bay to get dirty/warm air. Stage 3 is elephant trunk intake. Airflow makes the sexiest kit. True cold/ less dirty air. People hate the look of it which makes it even more badass!!!

More "sound" under load? What exactly does that mean? I do not recommend fucking with the factory air intake unless you have a legit need for a snorkel.

See where I mention I would not pay retail. I can get it for cheaper.

Basically it’s a k&n filter in the stock air box with a metallic tube. Compared to k&n cai, it’s pretty close to stock design. So anyone use, seen or heard it in action? Does it sound a bit louder than stock?

Underhood air is hot! Any intake that does not draw it's air from outside of the engine compartment is useless. Cooler outside air should be your number one reason to install an aftermarket air intake.
Most of the others just make noise, and give you the placebo affect of more performance.

Sound is fine, and def different...but I wouldnt pay that much money for a different sound; I’d get it for the added performance benefits.

Stock draws ambient air while around 45mph, just buy a muffler.

Btw, aem is k&n thanks to a takeover yrs ago.

Fwiw, k&n also draws ambient air around 45 mph

It probably won’t have too different of a sound, as it’s still leaves the Oem baffle and stuff after the filter.

Unless you’re getting it for maybe 50% price or less I probably wouldn’t.

    Either would I.

I want a bit more sound but think the k&n or others are a bit loud and their design may actually be worse than oem. I would grab a trd box, but it’s a bit too much $.

I can get the aem for cheap, but it not much different than oem. That may not be a bad thing.

The trd intake is flawed anyways and runs lean.... Don't bother

Save your money and buy every piece of body armor, every rack, leave no part of the suspension stock and add hundreds of pounds of the latest gear and gadgetry, but leave the motor completely stock.

Makes alot of sense, huh? Lol

Get the URD intake if you want a great sound and performance. Add more breathing mods for more gains.

There’s no need to do any mods in the engine bay besides auxiliary fuse panels for a couple light bars!

    Am I right!?!?!?

Got it, I will bolt every piece of pig iron to the truck, add 40” tires and a 6’ periscope snorkel, but when it comes to the engine... no platinum plugs, under drive pullies or tb spacers. Oem only baby!
