What octane are u running ?

So this has been running in my head for a awhile what octane runs best in the 3.5L v6 ? Any benefits running 91 octane compared to 87 ?? stock tune

 

It makes your wallet lighter, less weight in the truck means faster acceleration.

 

What does your owners manual specify?

manual says 87 and higher so was wondering if putting a higher octane gas would make the truck run better .

 

wasn't looking for a poll more a answer or thoughts on using higher premium gas on the 3.5l

 

That means its tuned and MPG EPA certified for 87. And its safe to run higher if you cant find 87.

Some folks feel they run better on premium. All you can do is try it and determine for yourself if the extra cost is worthwhile

Like every car before it, the fuel in the manual is the best.

 

Just run 87, or whatever your local regular octane is. Whatever minuscule mpg bump you get won’t be worth the extra price

 

86 and an occasional 88.

I have tried different fuel grades in the past with other vehicles. Never noticed any changes that I can remember, but I'll be driving 1200 miles to FL in a couple months maybe I'll experiment with one of my fill ups.

Nope, just thought I had an easy way to get the figures you were asking for in the title. Polls work quite well and get forgotten about.

 

We have a VP station nearby.... Iirc they have 99 or 100 and it's like $10 a gallon. Same stuff?
Without some kind of tune I doubt it'll do anything for me, but the thought has come up.

 

93 for me but that’s just due to OV Tune. If I wasn’t tuned I’d stick with 87 I think.

It will have a bit more power. Not because higher octane fuel has more power, because your truck will change timing due to the fact you won't knock because higher octane.
The kicker is you must continue running higher octane or it goes back.
