Bedrack 2.0 , always learning whats good to have and what you don’t need.

Still contemplating getting a softopper and building a rack for it, that way its always on and lightweight.

Hate having to put this on and off but its nice and light and only 4 bolts.

Finish this, then rear bumper. Hydro bumps and maybe a front bumper if money allows. Still having a hard time finding someone local who can mandrel bend 1.75-2” steel tube

I agree, i put stiffer springs on my truck and removed sway bar. Little more body roll going around corners fast but normal driving is barely noticeable and its real noticeable offroad, in a good way of course

Yes. I need to extend it another 1.5 inches approx. I need to remove the stops and see if the rubber comes off with a bolt. I may be able just add a longer rubber bump.

Question for you and everyone, solar panel

I’ve been considering doing some sort of solar set up. I have a AGM battery and it works well with the fridge, but one time when i camped with my girlfriend after two days of not running the truck it almost died.

Ive considered doing a prinsu style rack on the cab of the truck but then its there all the time and I don’t love that idea.

Second idea is to put it on my bed rack, bedrack is only on when im camping amd using fridge so this makes sense.
I have one plug for lights on rack, so this is another thing to plug in when installing the rack.

Second, i was just going to do a trickle charger panel under 15W from what im reading. Get to camp, set up. Grab the cable attach to panel fixed to rack and then attach to battery terminals. Or with a charge controller, put the charge controller and everything in the engine bay and leave a cord in the bed and when ever the rack goes on plug it in and good to go

I like the idea of the trickle charger, easier, simple and cheaper. I think it would be enough to keep the battery topped up for 1-2 days

    Opinions, thanks team

Edit, plus id only really be using it when I actually camp, when im overlanding with all you guys, the truck gets driven everyday and I wouldn’t even use it during these times as the truck is never off for more than 12-15 hours

I don't have solar but been thinking about it as well. I like the second idea. Flexible that you can remove it.

Depending on the style of camping you are doing (trailer park with a plug in type) it may be better to just get a battery charger.

I got rid of my solar setup as I would drive during the day and by the time I parked there was no sun to charge my shit. Recently my aux battery died from not being charged and the solar controller drawing off of it.

I use a ctek charger which I can just plug my truck into a wall outlet. It’s waterpoof and I just plug it to my rear battery

Muffler shops will have tubing bending machines.

Most medium to larger Electrical companies will have an electric or hydraulic EMT/Rigid conduit benders that go from 1 1/4" to 4". You can also rent these at some of the larger rental supply places.

I usually get a site with no power or water though, makes sense though.

Didn’t even think of the option you suggested, all the firetrucks use this while parked at the hall, always plugged in. Makes sense now

But yeah exactly, not needed when im alone but when im with the gf the truck is usually just parked for the weekend

Yeah for an extra bit for a campsite it’s just easier. Plus you get the water. In some cases that’s all Karoline and I got while on the road.
